Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail has reported that British pop singer and media personality, Lulu, will be taking over the leading role of Dorothy Brock in the West End production of 42nd Street currently playing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, for sixteen weeks beginning March 19.

Currently enjoying a West End revival at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, 42nd Street has also released a brand new cast recording.

42nd STREET, the quintessential backstage musical comedy classic, is now playing at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The cast showed off their dancing feet on 'Tonight at the London Palladium' and we've got the video below!

Last night, musical 42ND STREET opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's West End. The show received a royal seal of approval from Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who was given a pair of golden tap shoes by the producers and writer/director Mark Bramble. The Duchess attended the show in her role as Royal Patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

The curtain rises just high enough to reveal a long line of tapping feet: a thoroughly appropriate intro, as those feet are the real stars of the show. The plot might centre around a leading lady battle, but this loving backstage fairy tale is really a paean to the chorus - the hard-working, unceasingly toe-tapping foundation upon which musical comedy ('the two most glorious words in the English language,' per the show) is built.

Actor Tom Lister is best known for playing Carl King on Emmerdale, but he's also amassed a number of stage credits, including Legally Blonde, Calamity Jane and Water Babies. He's currently starring in the West End revival of 42nd Street, alongside Sheena Easton, Clare Halse and Stuart Neal. The show begins previews on 20 March.
