Neil Simon at his Best! Simon’s farce Rumors opens June 9 at The Stagecrafters Charlie and Myra plan to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary at their beautiful home in the company of eight dear friends. But when their tuxedo-and-designer-gown-clad guests arrive, they find the house empty, piles of uncooked food in the kitchen -- but Charlie and Myra nowhere in sight. The hungry, angry and totally befuddled guests drown in speculation as to the reason for what is happening (or not happening). But as, in the face of all the odd circumstances, they try to preserve at least a bit of their cool and dignity, they actually become entangled in increasingly bizarre situations which they cannot comprehend. Ingeniously plotted, this is absolutely the funniest play that Neil Simon ever gave the American theater. “Rumors” premiered at the Old Globe Theatre, San Diego CA in September 1988, and has been a favorite of Simon’s oeuvre ever since.
