The new resident theater company at McCoole's Arts & Events Place will produce a brand new family friendly musical this July. The world premiere musical Poppy & The Magic Tutu follows Poppy, a dancing hippo and her circus friends as they set out to solve the mystery of Poppy's missing magic tutu. The family-friendly musical is filled with hummable tunes, energetic choreography, and over the top circus characters that all come together to deliver laughs to the audience while also teaching strong life lessons.
The cast includes Kirsten Almeida in the title role. Kirsten is a theater veteran performing on and off Broadway. She also traveled the United States in the Little Engine That Could national tour. Jon Lynch will play the joke-telling bear with Payton Sherry as the ring leader and Poppy's best friend...a CAT. Ashlee Galea, at only 13 years old, will play the sassy tap-dancing Lion who wants nothing more to tap dance as opposed to jumping through hoops of fire. Rounding out the cast is Kait Stein as the Monkey who delivers a power ballad reminiscent of an 80's Femme Rock Ballad.
Poppy & The Magic Tutu has something for everyone. Come join the cast this July for a rousing good time. Performances are Friday, July 10 at 7pm, Saturday, July 11 at 11am, 2pm, and 7pm, and Sunday, July 12 at 11am and 2pm. Performances will take place at McCoole's Arts & Events Place, 10 S.
