The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts launches new text-to-give campaign as part of #GivingTuesday, a national campaign that encourages a day of giving on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Mobile phone users will be able to give a $5 donation to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts by texting the word KIMMEL to 20222 beginning Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

Text-to-give options will be available for Verizon Wireless, Alltel Wireless, AT&T Mobility, Sprint, T-Mobile USA, Boost Mobile, US Cellular, C Spire Wireless, Cincinnati Bell, Cricket Communications, nTelos Wireless, and Virgin Mobile users.
“We recognize that people lead busy lives, but still want to support the arts,” said Anne Ewers, president and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Mobile giving is an easy, effective way to provide mass audiences a vehicle to support the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the diverse programming represented on our stages. We are thrilled to launch this effort as part of #GivingTuesday.”

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts joins hundreds of other charitable organizations who have enlisted mobile giving as part of their fundraising efforts and the more than 1000 that have joined #GivingTuesday. With cuts in government funding and foundation support, many charitable organizations have been forced to cut programming, reduce staff, and close their doors. #GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season that celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.
