At last night's performance of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song, audiences were surprised by a visit from Hillary and Bill Clinton. The pair entered, shaking the hands of audience members, who greeted them with a standing ovation.

Harvey Fierstein appeared on last night's Watch What Happens Live. He talked about the difference between playing Edna in Hairspray and Albin in La Cage Aux Folles. Fierstein also revealed that he has never seen John Travolta's portrayal of Edna in the Hairspray film.

Continuing its 40th Anniversary Season, Second Stage Theater will present the world premiere of Steven Levenson's play, Days of Rage, directed by Trip Cullman. The company will feature Mike Faist (Dear Evan Hansen), Tavi Gevinson (This Is Our Youth), J. Alphonse Nicholson (Paradise Blue), Lauren Patten, and Odessa Young (Assassination Nation).

Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song will begin previews Tuesday, October 9 ahead of a Thursday, November 1 opening night at Broadway's Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street). Under the direction of Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman, Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song stars Drama Desk Award winner Michael Urie and Tony and Academy Award®winner Mercedes Ruehl. Previews for this limited engagement will begin Tuesday, October 9 ahead of a Thursday, November 1 opening night at the Hayes Theater.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents A Doll's House, Part 2, written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Les Waters, which begins previews on Thursday, September 6 and runs through Sunday, October 21. Second Stage Theater has postponed the start of previews of Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, to accommodate additional rehearsal time for new cast member Denis Arndt.  Mr. Arndt joined the company earlier this week. 

Michael Mayer is an award-winning director whose work spans from theatre and opera to film and television. He is currently represented on Broadway by HEAD OVER HEELS, the new musical featuring hit songs of the Go-Go's.

Second Stage Theater presents Straight White Men, beginning previews at the Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street) on Friday, June 29, 2018 and officially opening on Monday, July 23, 2018. Young Jean Lee's dark comedy, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, will star Armie Hammer, Tom Skerritt, Josh Charles, Kate Bornstein and Ty Defo.
