Rehearsals are officially underway for Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Cost of Living, written by Martyna Majok and directed by Obie Award winner Jo Bonney. This insightful, intriguing work is about the forces that bring people together, the complexity of caring and being cared for, and the ways we all need each other in this world. The company just met the press and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the big day. Ruben Santiago-Hudson is Broadway's jack of all trades this season. Not only did he direct MTC's Tony-nominated Skeleton Crew, but he wrote, directed and starred in Lackwanna Blues- the latter of which earned him a Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play.

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of Golden Shield, written by Anchuli Felicia King (White Pearl) and directed by May Adrales (Vietgone at MTC), opened just last night at New York City Center - Stage I. As BroadwayWorld reported last night, last night's performance of Lackawanna Blues was canceled due to a recurrence of an ongoing back injury for star, writer, and director, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, but it is now officially open at  MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre!
