From the volatile melting pot of New York City at the dawn of a new century, comes the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, RAGTIME, kicking off Marriott Theatre's 2018 Season, January 24 through March 18, 2018 with a press opening on Wednesday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. at 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire. Featuring a powerful score by the Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, and book by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, RAGTIME is a sweeping musical portrait of America. Seven-time Jeff Award winner Nick Bowling (The Bridges of Madison County, Man of La Mancha, The King and I) returns to Marriott Theatre to direct, with Musical Direction by Jeff Award winner Ryan T. Nelson and Choreography by Kenneth L. Roberson.

From January 12th-21st, North Carolina Theatre will be presenting A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater. I recently had the great pleasure of stopping by rehearsal to interview the stars of this production, two-time Emmy nominee Sandy Duncan and Ira David Wood III.

'The Lion King' is one of the most highly anticipated live action remakes on the way, especially following the exciting casting news. But who didn't make the cut? Saturday Night Live has a handful of Hollywood's A-Listers who tried their paws at the leading roles and didn't quite succeed.

While everyone was grabbing drinks or a snack from the kitchen during the Tony Awards commercial breaks, Creative Arts hosts King Georges Brian d'Arcy James and Jonathan Groff were presenting Tony Awards in the categories of Best Lighting Design Play, Best Lighting Design in a Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Orchestrations, and Best Choreography.

Before the Tony Awards broadcast began on CBS, the American Theatre Wing handed out a handful of Creative Arts Awards, along with the Lifetime Achievement and the Isabelle Stevenson Award. Each year, the Tonys set aside a special Lifetime Achievement honor for a artists of great distinction within the theatre community. This year's honoree is one of the greatest stage and film actors of his generation, James Earl Jones.

It was a night full of Broadway and TV reunions for beloved stage and screen star Judith Light at the 2017 Monte Cristo Award ceremony earlier this week, presented by the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center and held for the first time at 583 Park Avenue. Light's LOMBARDI co-star Dan Lauria and 'Ugly Betty' co-star Michael Urie joined in on the celebrations, and Director Thomas Kail presented Light with her honor.

In two tweets this afternoon, director of the upcoming live action remake of Disney's, The Lion King, Jon Favreau, revealed that star of FX's 'Atlanta', Donald Glover, and original Mufasa, James Earl Jones, will be starring in the film.
