This week, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (Folksbiene)-led by Zalmen Mlotek, Artistic Director, and Dominick Balletta, Executive Director-brings the stage to global audiences with Folksbiene LIVE!, featuring celebrated Yiddish star Avi Hoffman, Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish's Joel Grey, Steven Skybell, Adam B. Shapiro and Zisl Slepovitch.

Folksbiene LIVE! Announces This Week's Performance Lineup

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (Folksbiene) continues to bring the stage to global audiences the week of March 22 with Folksbiene LIVE!, an online celebration of Yiddish culture featuring livestreamed theater, American Jewish performers, workshops, and other events.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene Presents THE TENTH MAN By Paddy Chayefsky

This May, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF)-Zalmen Mlotek, Artistic Director, Dominick Balletta, Executive Director-will present The Tenth Man, the Tony-nominated play by Paddy Chayefsky (the three-time Academy Award-winning author of Network, Marty, and The Hospital) in a newly commissioned Yiddish translation, directed by Tony Award-nominated director Eleanor Reissa. The Tenth Man will be performed from May 17 to June 11, Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place, NYC.

Soul to Soul, the electrifying and emotionally captivating theatrical concert that explores the parallels of African American and Jewish history took the stage at the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend on Sunday, January 19. Presented by the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), Soul to Soul included for the first time the participation of Oscar- and Grammy-nominated IMPACT Repertory Theatre.

Folksbiene's SOUL TO SOUL Explores Parallels Of African-American And Jewish Experience Through Music

Soul to Soul, the electrifying and emotionally captivating theatrical concert that explores the parallels of African American and Jewish history takes the stage this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend. Presented by the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), Soul to Soul will include for the first time the participation of Oscar- and Grammy-nominated IMPACT Repertory Theatre. The event will begin with an introduction by Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Executive Vice President of The New York Board of Rabbis, and New York City Council Member Robert E. Cornegy, Jr., who represents the Council's 36th District spanning Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights.

Jesse Eisenberg to Star in THE INVESTIGATION at the Museum of Jewish Heritage

Theater of War Productions and the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, in partnership with National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, will present a reading of scenes from Peter Weiss' play The Investigation, a searing piece of documentary theater adapted from the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trials of 1963-65 when 22 mid- and lower-level Nazi officials were tried for crimes against humanity in the Auschwitz-Birkenau complex.

On December 8th, The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene premiered The Sorceress (Di Kishefmakherin), a magical, musical Yiddish fantasy starring an innocent young heroine, her dashing fiancé, a devious stepmother, and a scheming witch that takes its audience into a world of illusion, intrigue, and suspense. Among the opening night guests were Jana Robbins and Haley Swindal. 

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene Pushes Premiere Date of Musical HARMONY by Barry Manilow to 2021

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek and Executive Director Dominick Balletta), in association with Tony Award-winning Producer Ken Davenport, today announced that New York debut of the new musical Harmony by the legendary Barry Manilow and his longtime collaborator Bruce Sussman will be postponed until 2021 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage a?" A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place, NYC. The show was previously scheduled to start performances on February 11, 2020.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center, UJA-Federation of New York, and The New York Board of Rabbis will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz with a concert celebrating the resilience of Jewish music and culture on Monday, January 27, 2020.
