New Diorama Theatre in London and 59E59 Theaters in New York have partnered again and will co-curate the 2023 Brits Off-Broadway Festival.

PRIMARY STAGES announced casting for On That Day in Amsterdam by Clarence Coo (People Sitting in Darkness) and directed by Zi Alikhan (The Boy Who Danced on Air). On That Day in Amsterdam will begin previews at 59E59’s Theater A on July 23, 2022, with opening night set for August 11 for a limited run through September 4, 2022.

59E59 Theaters and Less Than Rent Theatre have announced the cast for The Panic of ’29 by Graham Techler (The Moderators) and directed by Max Friedman (Midnight at the Never Get).

59E59 Theaters has announced their Summer/Fall 2022 Season, which will include the in-person return of the East to Edinburgh Festival, as well as two additional productions presented by Primary Stages, On That Day in Amsterdam and peerless as part of their inaugural season as 59E59 Theaters’ Resident Off Broadway Theater Company.

Producers Douglas Denoff & Beth Goldsmith, and 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) present the Directors Company’s production of The Lucky Star by Karen Hartman, directed by Noah Himmelstein (Rooted). The Lucky Star began previews on April 26, 2022 in Theater A and opened May 5 for a run through June 12, 2022.

59E59 Theaters (Artistic Director: Val Day, Managing Director: Brian Beirne) is currently staging their latest devised production by the Happenstance Theater, BAROCOCO. BAROCOCO is running in Theater B. The show began previews on February 9, and opens today, February 13th. It is set to play until March 6, 2022. 

59E59 Theaters has announced their return to in-person programming in January 2022, including their Winter 2022 Season and the launch of the VOLT Festival in Spring 2022.

 59E59 Theaters has announced that five NYC non-profit theater companies are the recipients of Covid Relief Grants. The grant amounts range from $10,000 - $25,000 and will go towards supporting new work from BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ artists.  

Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) and Carly Hughes (American Housewife) will join Janet Hubert (Fresh Prince of Bel Air) to star in a virtual reading of Douglas Lyons’ CHICKEN AND BISCUITS on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 8:00p.m. (EST) to benefit the Next Wave Initiative.

Janet Hubert, best known to television audiences as “Aunt Viv” on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, will star as Baneatta Mabry in a virtual reading of Douglas Lyons' family comedy, CHICKEN AND BISCUITS on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 8:00p.m.

Plays-by-mail theater company Artistic Stamp have announced that due to the sold-out success of their inaugural season, they are returning with Season Two in 2021. Season Two will include three world premieres by Liz Duffy Adams (Or), Timothy Huang (Costs of Living), and West Hyler (Cirque Du Soleil's Paramour) and Dashiell Hyler plus more.

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) announces that, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, Happenstance Theater has made the difficult decision to cancel their upcoming NYC premiere of BAROCOCO. The production was scheduled to begin performances on March 18.

Off-Broadway's 59E59 Theaters have suspended all programming in light of the current coronavirus outbreak.

59E59 Theaters will welcome Primary Stages as the new resident company, launching their 2020-2021 season in 59E59's Theater A in the fall.

Press Opening is Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 pm. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:00 pm; Saturday at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm; Sunday at 2:00 pm, with an added performance on Sunday, April 26 at 7 pm. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison). Single tickets are $25 - $70 ($49 for 59E59 Members). 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director), will welcome the US premiere of A SUPER HAPPY STORY (ABOUT FEELING SUPER SAD), written by Jon Brittain and directed by Alex Mitchell, with music by Matthew Floyd Jones. Produced by Silent Uproar and James Seabright for Brits Off Broadway, A SUPER HAPPY STORY (ABOUT FEELING SUPER SAD) begins performances on Tuesday, April 14 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 3.

New Diorama Theatre has announced the programme for Brits Off Broadway this spring, hosting the finest Off West End theatre on American soil. This festival is co-curated with New York's 59E59 and takes place at the Drama Desk Award-winning Midtown theatre from Tuesday 14 April to Sunday 28 June.
