BSC veterans Carson Elrod, Jeff McCarthy, and Debra Jo Rupp, all of whom are well known to area theatre goers are joined by Cary Donaldson and Ruth Pferdehirt. The ensemble is well balanced and show themselves to be exceptional character actors. Not every line lands solidly, but the skilled cast under the direction of Tracy Brigden provides an evening of entertainment that is fast paced, frivolous, and lots of fun.

Let me start this review with a comment by Olney's Artistic Director, Jason Loewith's comment in the program. 'After all my years in this business, many of them championing playwrights and new plays, it takes a lot to knock my socks off. I can count on two hands the experiences that reshaped by understanding of live theater and its possibilities. The world premiere of Ella Hickson's OIL in London two years was one of them. It is a blazingly, ambitious, as intellectually thrilling, as emotionally resonant as most the great works I've seen this century.'

Bold choices. Beautiful staging. This is Arden Theatre Company's production of A Doll's House Part 2.
by Julie Musbach -
A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2, written by Lucas Hnath, took Broadway by storm when it opened in 2017. This "explosively funny new play" (The Hollywood Reporter) is the comedic follow-up to Ibsen's classic dramatic masterpiece. Philadelphia audiences will be able to experience A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 as the Arden Theatre Company presents the regional premiere of Hnath's smashing new play. Performances are underway now through December 9 at the Arden's Arcadia Stage.

Have you lived with someone who is your polar opposite, yet they have brought something out in you that you didn't know was there? Jen Silverman's play The Roommate, running at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park now through October 21 tells a similar story.
by BWW News Desk -
Sharon, a recently divorced homemaker from Iowa, needs a roommate. Robyn, a slam poet from New York, needs a chance to start over. When they find each other through a roommate listing, hilarity (and some illegal activity) ensues. Beginning Sept. 21, Shelterhouse audiences can come along for the ride in THE ROOMMATE and watch two empty-nesters navigate the rocky roads of change. The play runs through Oct. 21 (Opening Night is Sept. 27.).

Grief can be a very strange thing and people react to traumatic events in very different ways. Some may become reserved and avoid contact with people. Some may turn to their faith for support during trying times. Others, like the young man in TheaterWorks' HAND TO GOD, channel anger, fear and confusion into a demonic and controlling puppet. Yes, you read that right. In Robert Askins' Tony Award nominated play, young Jason and his evil puppet alter ego, Tyrone, wreak havoc on a small Texas church and raunchy, rude, unhinged hilarity ensues.
