City Theatre Presents the World Premiere of FEEDING THE DRAGON

Fresh on the heels of the raucous comedy, Hand to God, City Theatre turns in a different direction to present Feeding the Dragon, an intimate and magical world premiere by the award-winning stage and screen actress, Sharon Washington. The production marks Washington's playwriting debut. Feeding the Dragon runs October 22 through November 20, 2016 in the Lester Hamburg Studio at City Theatre, directed byMaria Mileaf.

City Theatre to Present Anna Ziegler's THE LAST MATCH

City Theatre Sets First Three Productions of 2016-17 Season

City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden has announced three plays of the six-show 2016-17 season. The South Side company's 42nd season includes a trio of exciting Pittsburgh premieres: Hand to God by Robert Askins, Feeding the Dragon written and performed by Sharon Washington, and The Royale by Marco Ramirez. 'I am really excited about next season at City Theatre where we have culled the hottest new plays for our Pittsburgh audience. Where else can you find a vivid new voice, a theatrical history lesson, and a rollicking and irreverent Broadway hit all at one theatre? City Theatre to Continue Season with SEX WITH STRANGERS

The 2015-16 season at City Theatre continues with one of the hottest plays in the country this year. Sex with Strangers, by Laura Eason (Netflix's "House of Cards"), runs on the Mainstage, March 12 - April 3, 2016. It is directed by Christian Parker.

Pittsburgh Public Theater to Present Ayad Akhtar's DISGRACED

Pittsburgh Public Theater presents the regional premiere of Ayad Akhtar's Disgraced, winner of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Directed by City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, Disgraced runs March 10 - April 10, 2016 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District. City Theatre to Stage World Premiere of SOME BRIGHTER DISTANCE

The world premiere production of Some Brighter Distance continues the 2015-2016 season at City Theatre on the Mainstage, January 23 - February 14, 2016. The play is written by Keith Reddin and directed by City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden.  

City Theatre Welcomes Playwright Mat Smart for Residency, Beginning Today

? City Theatre is excited to welcome playwright Mat Smart for a writing residency November 17-19, 2015. The residency will be tailored to Smart's individual creative needs and offer him full use of City Theatre's resources, a developmental reading with local actors, and artistic support from Director of New Play Development Clare Drobot and Artistic Director Tracy Brigden. Fulfilling its mission that emphasizes new play development, City Theatre also commissions works by diverse writers and produces world premiere productions, including this season's Some Brighter Distance by Keith Reddin, which will run January 23-February 14, 2016. City Theatre hosts an annual festival of new plays at different stages of development called Momentum, which will take place June 2-5, 2016.

Billy Porter and Anthony Rapp to Celebrate A BROADWAY HOLIDAY at City Theatre, 12/14

City Theatre gets festive with A BROADWAY HOLIDAY, a one-night-only concert featuring performances by award-winning Broadway stars Billy Porter and Anthony Rapp. With local talents Maria Becoates-Bey, Daina Michelle Griffith, and Billy Hartung, the special performance will include hit Broadway songs as well as a variety of holiday favorites.
