Roundabout has announced Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon will join Roundabout’s artistic leadership team as Senior Resident Director in January 2021. In his new role, Leon will participate in the theatre's selection of plays and musicals - both seasonal onstage productions and the dozens of workshops & readings produced annually.

Roundabout Theatre Company and Arts for All Abilities Consortium have announced a virtual theatre festival dedicated to the voices of artists with disabilities. The festival will be a space for artists to develop and share new theatre works, created and hosted by Roundabout Theatre Company and with the participation of four partner organizations.

On deck is Jeanine Tesori and Tony Kushner’s CAROLINE, OR CHANGE starring Sharon D Clarke, directed by Michael Longhurst, and choreographed by Ann Yee at Studio 54. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) has just announced Miranda Haymon as Resident Director. After joining Roundabout in 2017 as a Directing Fellow, Haymon became an Associate Artist and more recently, has spent time creating and overseeing Roundabouta??s Directors Group, and developing Dave Harrisa?? new play Exception to the Rule.

The renaming of the theatre was dedicated to Stephen Sondheim, the greatest and best known artist in American musical theatre on his 80th birthday.

I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing Vivienne Benesch, who is the Producing Artistic Director of PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. At PlayMakers, she has helmed productions of Life of Galileo, Leaving Eden, The May Queen, Three Sisters, Love Alone, RED, and In The Next Room (or the Vibrator Play).

Roundabout Theatre Company just announced that the current theatrical season will resume in Spring 2021, and has added the Broadway debut of Alice Childress's Trouble in Mind, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, to its roster of upcoming shows. Childress was a Founding Member of the American Negro Theatre and the first African-American woman to be produced professionally in New York (Gold Through The Trees in 1952); Randolph-Wright is a celebrated director and writer whose play Blue had an acclaimed run at Roundabout in 2001. Trouble in Mind will premiere on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre in Winter 2021/22.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced the Roundabout Directors Group providing career assistance to emerging directors. This is an extension of Roundabout's myriad artistic and career mentorship programs, including the Roundabout Directing Fellowship, the Theatrical Workforce Development Program and Space Jam, a support initiative for playwrights.

Just last night, Roundabout Theatre Company honored ​​​​​​​ Alan Cumming with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre, and Michael Kors & Lance Le Pere with The Ovation Award for Excellence in Philanthropy. This year's gala 'The Life of the Party' featured a unique concert from Tony, Grammy & Emmy Award winner Cyndi Lauper, created exclusively for the special occasion.
