Known for lovingly paying homage to the world of documentaries, Documentary Now! Season 53 will debut with a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, October 19 at 10 PM on IFC, and on AMC+ the same day. New episodes will debut weekly on Wednesdays. Starting September 1, AMC+ will be the exclusive home of previous seasons of Documentary Now!.

The two-part, season premiere episode, “Soldier of Illusion,” written by John Mulaney and starring Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman, Big Little Lies), Nicholas Braun (Succession, Zola) and August Diehl (Inglourious Basterds), was inspired by the Werner Herzog-focused documentary Burden of Dreams.

Former Hamilton co-stars Andrew Chappelle and Taran Killam have reunited to film Fanatic, a new short film written by Chappelle. Additional cast includes Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul, star Devere Rogers as Gerald, Caroline Rhea ('Sabrina the Teenage Witch') Matt Cook ('Man with a Plan') Sam Pancake ('Will & Grace') and Shannon Dang ('Kung Fu').

The Latinx House, the Sundance Institute’s Women at Sundance program, Netflix, and Shondaland announced three Latina directors who will participate in the inaugural Adelante Directors Fellowship, a groundbreaking program that supports up-and-coming directors’ professional development, creating a pipeline to uplift independent filmmakers.

 The Groundlings Theatre introduces a brand-new groovy sketch show from the Groundlings Main company, “Groundlings of ’69.” Previews begin on April 2nd as part of a new, two show night weekend schedule for the Theatre. Opening night is April 29th.  Directed by Lisa Schurga (Clipped) this sketch comedy show features appearances from Main Company members Josh Duvendeck (Parks and Recreation), Allison Dunbar (The Sopranos), Ryan Gaul (The Last O.G.), Patty Guggenheim (Florida Girls), Chris Kleckner, Laird Macintosh, Jessica Pohly, Emily Pendergast (VEEP), Annie Sertich (Sillicon Valley), and Greg Worswick. 

The animated series features voice talent from Eugene Cordero, Donald Faison, Sofia Gonzalez, Taran Killam, Will McLaughlin, Bobby Moynihan, Griffin Newman, Lennon Parham, Nicole Parker, Connor Ratliff, Ben Schwartz, Jimmi Simpson, and Cobie Smulders.

Emmy-nominated writing team Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond have released the world premiere recording of their song 'Chaos', performed by Ben Fankhauser (Newsies) with orchestrations by August Eriksmoen (Come From Away, Bright Star), is now available.

On Friday, April 28th, LACSHA, the number one Arts High School in America,  is hosting its 5th annual Future Artists Gala at The Novo in LA Live.  LACSHA has produced some of the finest talent in the world, including Phoebe Bridgers, HAIM, Josh Groban, Angel Blue, Jenna Elfman and artist Kehinde Wiley.
