Family and friends, including some of Broadways best and brightest all came out to celebrate the marriage of Broadway veterans, Stephanie Pope and Aarne Lofgren.

Playhouse on Park's education department, Playhouse Theatre Academy, not only offers classes for young actors this summer, but also for adults ages 16 and up who have a vested interest in the performing arts. There are some musicals that simply epitomize the genre. You know the ones - the shows where you have lost count how many times you have seen them, either on Broadway, on tour, or at your local theatre. They are like a part of the family - the favorite uncle or aunt that you are happy to see whenever you are together. One of these shows for me is Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN, the classic that serves as a near-perfect representation of American Musical Theatre. So, it is with excitement, and a bit of trepidation (how will this production fare with all the others in my memory?) that I went to see Goodspeed Musicals latest production. I am thrilled to say that the play feels as fresh as the day it premiered, is as lovely as the "bells on the hill" that feature in one of its most iconic songs, and serves as a brilliant opening to the new season at the Goodspeed Opera House.

River City's about to get the last thing they expected ? and the very thing they need ? in The Music Man. Goodspeed Musicals kicks off its 2019 season with the rip-roarin' dance-filled classic running April 12 - June 20 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn. [Official Press Opening will be May 1, 2019].

Based on the songs of ABBA, Mamma Mia! is set on a Greek Island where a young woman named Sophie Sheridan is about to get married, and she wants her birth father to give her away. Yet, she has no idea who it is, so she invites three men who were romantically involved with her mother 20 years ago to the wedding. When they arrive to the island, Sophie's mother, Donna Sheridan, is brought back memories of love and heartbreak.

North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional theatre, is proud to announce casting for its upcoming production of Mamma Mia!, playing February 12-17 at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM at Gulfshore Playhouse brings a fresh twist to a beloved musical comedy. Gulfshore Playhouse brought this show to life by gender-swapping several of the actors with their characters in the show, and they also had a smaller cast than what is typical for FORUM, which resulted in an even funnier production.

Gulfshore Playhouse, Naples' premier professional regional theater, travels back to Ancient Rome for its second production of the 2018-19 season, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." The Tony Award-winning farce written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, takes the stage Nov. 17 to Dec. 30.

Dancers for Good, a glitzy gala benefitting The Actors Fund brought top dance talents from Martha Graham, Paul Taylor Dance Companies and more to East Hampton in a flawless, echanting evening of dance honoring two legends and true 'dancers for good': Bebe Neuwith & Chita Rivera.

Broadway actor and teaching artist Michelle Pruiett is lined up to teach Contemporary Musical Theatre Audition Technique on Monday, July 23 from 6:30-8:30pm. Friends of the theater may remember Pruiett from the Playhouse's production of A Chorus Line in 2016!
