Theater J has announced Theater J’s 31st season, which includes five plays and a bonus holiday musical engagement. The Board of Directors of the San Francisco Ballet announced today that Kelly Tweeddale is leaving her position as Executive Director. Chief Development Officer Danielle St. Germain-Gordon has taken on the responsibility of Interim Executive Director while SF Ballet undertakes an international search to fill the position.

Barrington Stage Company has announced extensions for the first four productions of the theatre's 2021 season: Who Could Ask for Anything More? The Songs of George Gershwin, Chester Bailey, Eleanor and Boca.

Barrington Stage Company has been presenting award winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield for more than a quarter century. The thought of not producing during the pandemic was unacceptable to BSC Artistic Director, Julianne Boyd, board members and staffers. They went to extraordinary lengths to present a highly irregular and relatively limited number of offerings.

With a powerful new production of Becoming Dr. Ruth now available for streaming, BroadwayWorld had the chance to sit down with playwright Mark St. Germain, actress Tovah Feldshuh who is taking on the one-woman show, and the title character herself, Dr. Ruth.

If you had asked me about Dr. Ruth before I watched BECOMING DR. RUTH I would have vague memories of an older lady with an accent who used to talk about sex on the radio in the ’90s and early 2000s.  Now, thanks to the stellar performance by Tovah Feldshuh in the play now streaming from North Coast Repertory Theatre, I have learned so much about Dr. Ruth’s extraordinary life.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the 2021 Mainstage production Becoming Dr. Ruth, marking the return to live theater at Bay Street in more than 15 months, is now running through June 27.

The Phoenix Theatre Company’s production is buttressed by a solid technical crew. It’s cohesive enough to support the herculean effort of Ms. Debra K. Stevens, who wields an impressive command of a voluminous text while practically staging a tutorial on how storytelling ought to be paced. She gives us a Dr. Ruth who is warm, funny, and authentic.

From late June to early August, Great Barrington Public Theater will bring a diverse six-weeks to the Daniel Arts Center, at Bard College at Simon's Rock, Great Barrington. ISQ features Irene Serra (vocals), Richard Sadler (double bass), Naadia Sheriff (piano), and Chris Nickolls (drums). Irene Serra was born in Milan and grew up in Denmark before moving to London to study music, where she's currently based with the rest of the band.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park today announced the restart of its mainstage season for October 2021.
