The League of Professional Theatre Women (Shellen Lubin and Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, is producing an Oral History Project event with renowned Broadway publicist Irene Gandy on Monday, February 10 beginning at 6pm in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Admission to the event is FREE and seats are available on a first-come-first-seated basis. Doors will open at 5:30pm.

On Thursday, November 14th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Shellen Lubin and Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, presented an Oral History Project event with the legendary, five-time Tony Award-winning actress, Angela Lansbury at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Ms. Lansbury discussed her life and prolific career with Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director of Irish Repertory Theatre.

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Shellen Lubin and Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, will launch their 37th season of programming, events, and advocacy, with a special event on Wednesday, September 25 at Theaterlab (357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018). Pre-reception networking will begin at 6:30pm. The event will officially kick-off at 7pm, followed by post-reception networking from 9pm-9:30pm.

Following sold out engagements at 54 Below, The Triad NYC, United Solo Festival, Barrington Stage Company (Tony Award-winning William Finn's Cabaret Series) and a nationwide tour from Washington D.C. to Hawaii, the captivating Amy Oestreicher presents Passageways: Songs of Connection, Abnormal & Sublime. An adventurous multimedia journey of original song, art, story and humor as an unexpected passageway through crisis to home, Passageways is written performed, composed, and with mixed media art created by Amy Oestreicher (Gutless and Grateful at 54 Below, RAINN & TEDx Talks) with musical direction and arrangements by Bob Goldstone and direction by Shellen Lubin. Performances of this new theatrical event will coincide with the launch of Amy Oestreicher's new book My Beautiful Detour (Singing Tree Publishing, 2019), and a talk-back and book-signing will be held after each performance. The 2019 Collaboration Awards Gala, which is being held on International SWAN Day (Support Women Artists Now), will be hosted by SAG Award-winning actor and producer Alysia Reiner (Fig on Orange is the New Black on Netflix). Awarded biennially, the Collaboration Awards encourage professional women in the arts and media from different disciplines to work collaboratively on the creation of new work. The award recognizes the best of these collaborations and goes to a winning project and its two creators. 2019 marks the sixth time the Collaboration Awards have been presented.

Following runs at Feinstein's/54 Below, Metropolitan Room, The Bijou Theatre, and Barrington Stage Company, performer, songwriter, playwright, and TEDx speaker Amy Oestreicher brings a premiere solo show to the Triad Theater. Passageways is an original song cycle with live music, and artwork projections, all created by the performer. Music, humor and art, interwoven with autobiographical narrative, as the creativity of the artist becomes an unexpected passageway through profound crisis. On passageways, there's no way in, no way out, only through. So why not laugh, dance and paint our way towards the light? Musical Direction and Arrangements by Bob Goldstone, and Direction by Shellen Lubin.

BEFORE THIS NEW YEAR Gets Industry Reading November 19th

'Before This New Year,' a coming-of-age identity and right-of-first-passage love story by playwright Liana Sonenclar, will play a reading for industry on Monday, November 19th at 7 PM, at the Jerry Orbach Theater at the Theater Center at 210 West 50th Street, and will feature a notable cast. The play is helmed by director Kimberly Loren Eaton, who has been working on the development of the piece with Sonenclar the past several months through her creative development and production company Theatrum Mundi Productions.

Tony Award winning choreographer and director George Faison (The Wiz) presented Andre De Shields, a two-time Tony nominee, Drama Desk nominee, Emmy winner and multi-Audelco Award and Outer Critics Circle Award winner, with the 2018 Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award at the 33rd Annual Bistro Awards Gala, held at Gotham Comedy Club in New York on March 12th. De Shields received the Bistro Awards' highest honor for his five decades of stage and nightclub accomplishments.

HISTORY LEZONS A Festival Of Short Plays Comes to Pride Arts Center This March

March has officially been Women's History Month in the U.S. since 1987. In 2018, Pride Films and Plays will celebrate its own 'Women-Loving-Women's History Month' with HISTORY LEZONS, a showcase of nine short plays about women of previous eras - some historical, some fictional, some a combination of both.
