THE ILLUSION, a Long Island rock band, has been inducted into the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame after performing on stage for the first time in over 51 years. The Illusion band members from West Hempstead and Franklin Square (Western Nassau) include John Vinci, Mike Maniscalco, Rich Cerniglia, Chuck Alder and Mike Ricciardella.
The Illusion; one of the original bands that helped create what would become known as “the Long Island sound”, and the band that kicked the door open (paving the way for so many Long Island entertainers), are being inducted to the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF).
Featuring a classic reggae inspired arrangement complete with a lyrical shout out to Bob Marley, the track futhers Cope’s message of positivity and strength through struggle. Here, the track is a tribute to resilient women artists who inspire Cope, containing mentions of Maya Angelou, The I Threes, and Frida Kahlo.
A sparse, yet soulfully textured track displaying Cope’s signature croon, the song sees the narrator yearning for his partner amongst building guitars and displaced, echoing drum hits. It comes as Cope’s classic 2004 record The Clarence Greenwood Recordings approaches platinum status despite never formally charting.
