Overall, David Grieg's book, along with Marc Shaiman's and Scott Wittman's music, make for a fun family show with plenty of laughs. The audience will leave with some sweet memories. It's not to be taken seriously; just a lighthearted piece of art with vibrant costumes, a very diverse range of music, a few dark moments sprinkled here and there, dancing squirrels, and of course, singing oompa-loompas! 

Arendelle will soon welcome new royalty! BroadwayWorld has just learned that Ciara Renée, McKenzie Kurtz and Ryan McCartan will soon join the cast of Broadway's Frozen as Elsa, Anna, and Hans. All three will play their first performance on February 18. They take over the roles from original company members Caissie Levy and Patti Murin and Joe Carroll.

Award winning Box of Tricks theatre company recently announced plans for a UK Tour of their latest production The Last Quiz Night on Earth an immersive, innovative new play by Alison Carr.

'Bone on Bone' by Marylou DiPietro is now being performed at NJ Rep through February 9th. It is a smart, finely crafted play about a couple's diverging personal and professional lives. Moving, honest, and at times comical, the two-hander enjoys superb direction by M. Graham Smith and stars John Little and Wendy Peace.

City Farm Presents released show and lineup updates for the 3rd Brooklyn Podcast Festival which takes place January 22 - 26, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York. E Komo Mai Fest heats up Hawaii for its first edition this February 14th - 17th 2020. On Saturday, January 11, I had the pleasure of seeing THREE PIGS at the Downtown Cabaret Children's Theatre in Bridgeport, CT.   This was an excellent start to a new decade of theatrical experiences!  The stellar cast brings their A game to this Chris Gensur adaptation of this classic children's tale. 

It's one of the most well-known musicals, but THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA continues to surprise, featuring a stellar cast, design, and dozens of special effects that all add up to a massive spectacle of a show.

After a sold out season at the Edinburgh Fringe, Luth Wolff brings the sensational Big Tops & Tiny Tots Circus Show back to delight the preschoolers of Adelaide with this interactive, educational and energetic show made just for little ones.

Let's be frank. A lot of us in the Coachella Valley remember the music of the 60's very, very well. Just the first few notes of familiar songs can ignite memories of young love, a memorable party, long ago friendships or a school dance. Indio's Desert Theatreworks is currently presenting Beehive: The 60's Musical, and as wonderful as the presentation on stage was, I was delighted to look around at the audience. Faces seemed to literally light up as various songs started, friends and couples nudged each other as they recognized each iconic song, and smiles abounded everywhere.

I admit this is an absolutely personal, totally one-sided view of what gave one man opera thrills last year and what I will look back on with delight. Some are old works, some are new, some are individual performers, some are ensembles, some are complete productions, some are merely the highlight of an evening, most are domestic, a few are foreign. In any case, as the new decade begins, I recall that these are the vocal highlights that made my heart beat a little faster and made me look forward to the year ahead.

After a successful first week of shows, Playhouse Pantomimes is proudly presenting their original musical adaptation of 'Beauty and the Beast' at the Doncaster Playhouse for another two weeks!

Zeppelin Hall's BaconFest runs from Friday, January 10 to Sunday, January 26 with Executive Chef Franco Robazetti serving up 20 bacon filled dishes including the one that earned him the 1st place prize at last year's Bacon and Beer Classic. Our readers and fans of Robazetti will like to know he is due to appear on the Food Network's hit show, 'Beat Bobby Flay' on January 19 at 10pm EST.
