BWW Review: FOREVER PLAID an Escape to Harmonic Heaven at Theatre On The Bay

Transporting you to the 1950s with close-knit harmonies and pitch perfect renditions, FOREVER PLAID is a gentle jukebox musical perfect for some doo-wop nostalgia. Consisting of four members and giving off The Four Seasons feelings in some respects, this production has a loose storyline and is more focused on showing off the vocal and stage talents of the quartet; of which there is plenty.

What Shows To See In London This Christmas

The festive season is a fantastic time for a London theatre trip to get together with friends and family and celebrate with a show full of seasonal goodwill, or just great drama, music, laughs and spectacle. Looking for theatre inspiration? Here are some of the best seasonal shows!

BWW Review: OLIVER! at Marriott Theatre

Tis' the season that many theaters turn to Dickensian fare, but at Marriott Theatre, young Oliver Twist rather than Tiny Tim takes the stage. Nick Bowling directs Lionel Bart's OLIVER!, the 1960 musical based on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. With music direction by Ryan T. Nelson and choreography by Brenda Didier, a talented cast of child and adult actors delivers Bart's eminently hummable, if not groundbreaking, tunes. Though certain aspects of the material are irremediably dated, this is an entertaining revival of a (mostly) family-friendly show.

BWW Review: TWELFTH NIGHT at The Old Globe

Mischief and mayhem are always a solid base for a comedy, and TWELFTH NIGHT at The Old Globe through November 10th offers plenty of laughs, with a side helping of lords and ladies looking for love that makes for a very enjoyable night at the theatre.

BWW Review: Keen Company's MOLLY SWEENEY at Theatre Row

Set in contemporary Ballybeg, Ireland, the image-laden story of MOLLY SWEENEY commands our attention as we listen closely to visualize what is being described to us from contrasting perspectives. In words and movement, the measured cadence of this economically directed nested narrative metes out minor revelations, each shedding a little more light on how agency and ambition create conflict in an ocularcentric society.

BWW Album Review: BEAU Walks a New, Creative Path

Beau, a new musical by Douglas Lyons and Ethan D. Pakchar, has a sound that combines country, folk, and funk sounds and a sweetly internal story. It's a refreshing change of pace that's sure to enter your music rotation.

What's Playing on Broadway: Thanksgiving Weekend 2019

If your Thanksgiving Week plans include taking in a Broadway show, please take notice of the special holiday schedule for the rest of this holiday weekend. Many shows will take Thanksgiving Day off, but there are still plenty of options, including CHICAGO, JAGGED LITTLE PILL, THE LIGHTNING THIEF, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and WAITRESS. Note that most shows are adding Friday matinees and weekend performances, so plan ahead and most importantly, have a happy Thanksgiving!
