A little over a year ago, I attended a performance of Giselle from the Staatsballett Berlin whilst in the knowledge that the next day Corona restrictions would mean a premature end to the run. Fast forward to this year and performances are going ahead under strict “2G” regulations (you must be recovered or vaccinated and wear a mask at all times). Favouring Victor Ullate’s (after Petipa) crowd pleasing Don Quixote over the Christmas tradition of Nutcracker this year, the company tackle the challenge gamely although this particular performance lacked the magical feel that going to the ballet at Christmas should give. 

Valentina Kozlova's Dance Conservatory of New York returns to Symphony Space with Kozlova's charming one-hour production of Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker Suite,' two performances Saturday December 18 at 3 PM & 6 PM.  

The Washington Ballet has announced details of its 2022 Winter/Spring season, including single-ticket availability for its new and long-awaited production of Swan Lake, opening in February 2022 at the Kennedy Center.

In February next year, Dutch National Ballet will bring a major new production of the ballet classic Raymonda. Dutch National Ballets associate artistic director Rachel Beaujean, assisted by director Ted Brandsen and Grigori Tchitcherine are creating the first Dutch production of this legendary ballet by Marius Petipa and create an entirely new take on it.

Coppelia will be performed at Bolshoi this weekend. Performances run 13 and 14 November 2021.

Casting for American Ballet Theatre’s 2021 Fall season has been announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Principal Dancers for the 2021 Fall season at the Koch Theater include Joo Won Ahn, Aran Bell, Isabella Boylston, Skylar Brandt, Herman Cornejo, Thomas Forster, Gillian Murphy, and more.

In its return to indoor performances in New York City, American Ballet Theatre will present the 2021 Fall season at the David H. Koch Theater, October 20-31, 2021. 

The Washington Ballet today announced its 2021/22 “Season of Gratitude,” marking the company’s return to live performances after more than 16 months of pandemic-related strictures. The 2021/22 season features five productions, including an Opening Performance Celebration, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and more.

The 138th season of the Hungarian State Opera will presents seventeen premieres including seven that had to be postponed. The three venues of the Opera await audiences with 400 opera and ballet performances, and a further 1300 concerts, chamber concerts, special events, and multimedia activities mean the beginning of a new era.
