As BroadwayWorld sadly reported last week, legendary Broadway director and producer Hal Prince passed away at 91 years of age after a brief illness, in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Berkshire Theatre Group presents Kathleen Clark's (In The Mood, Southern Comforts, Secrets of a Soccer Mom) world premiere comedy What We May Be at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage (83 East Main Street) in Stockbridge, MA, beginning August 8 and running through August 31.

This Sunday, June 2nd at 7:00 pm will be a special show celebrating the 75th Birthday of the multi award-winning Marvin Hamlisch is being presented by Steven Brinberg at Feinstein's/54 Below, 254 West 54th Street, NYC 10019. Michael Lavine is the Musical Director, with a special appearance by Terre Blair Hamlisch.  

Next week, FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club & Private Event Destination, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond.

Initial casting and remaining directors have been announced for Pride Plays, an upcoming festival of play readings to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Nick Mayo serves as Festival Director.

Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh and Interim Managing Director Chris Griffith recently announced that the non-profit theater's 40th anniversary season will include regional premiere of The Lifespan of a Fact from August 30 through September 22.  Gloucester Stage will be the first theater in the country to produce the critically-acclaimed The Lifespan of a Fact since the play's SRO smash hit world premiere Broadway run featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Cherry Jones, and Bobby Cannavale closed in January 2019.

The little OPERA theatre of ny (LOTNY) presents the New York Premiere of Benjamin Britten's opera in two acts, OWEN WINGRAVE, with libretto by Myfanwy Piper, at GK Arts Center, 29 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY, from May 9-12, 2019, with performances on Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3pm. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, after two successful years on Broadway, the musical adaptation of the hit animated film, Anastasia will play its final performance on today, March 31, 2019. Upon closing, Anastasia will have played 808 regular and 34 preview performances at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street).

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present jazz pianist Matt Baker in an evening of George Gershwin on Monday, March 18.

The producers of Anastasia have announced that Cody Simpson has extended his engagement in the hit musical for eight additional weeks. Simpson made his Broadway debut as "Dmitry" on November 29, 2018 and will continue to star in the Broadway production through April 14, 2019.

Following the evening performance on Thursday, January 17, ANASTASIA stars Christy Altomare and Cody Simpson will return onstage for a special acoustic performance of the beloved song "Once Upon a December." Simpson will accompany the duet on guitar.

Anastasia will welcome new cast members to the Broadhurst Theatre this winter. Beginning Tuesday, December 18, original company member Constantine Germanacos will rejoin the hit Broadway musical as "Gleb." Emmy Award Winner Penny Fuller will assume the role of the "Dowager Empress" the week of January 7.

Paul Fraccalvieri, best known for his quick-witted sense of humor and leading man voice, brings a mixture of mirth and music in THE ROAD TO JOY at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street NYC) todays, November 3rd and 10th at 7 PM, Sundays, November 4th and 11th at 3 PM. It was reading The Book of Joy which details the friendship between the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu that inspired Paul to create this original one-man cabaret show.
