The final evening of performances for the Mabel Mercer Foundation's 29th New York Cabaret Convention, held at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, was a showcase for many cabaret legends, bringing back glamour, sparkle, and class to the proceedings.
For three decades, the unofficial launch of 'autumn in New York' has been marked by the annual Cabaret Convention of The Mabel Mercer Foundation. This year, their four individual concerts will once again be presented at 6 p.m. at the Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Today, October 9thand running through Friday, October 12th. More than seventy diverse vocalists -- ranging in age from seventeen to ninety -- are scheduled to entertain; thirteen of these will make their New York Cabaret Convention debuts during the 2018 performances.
Paul Fraccalvieri, best known for his quick-witted sense of humor and leading man voice, brings a mixture of mirth and music in THE ROAD TO JOY at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street NYC) on Saturdays, November 3rd and 10th at 7 PM, Sundays, November 4th and 11th at 3 PM. It was reading The Book of Joy which details the friendship between the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu that inspired Paul to create this original one-man cabaret show.

Continuing at Cape May Stage is Chapter Two by Neil Simon. This charming romantic comedy opened on June 27th and runs through August 3rd. Set in Manhattan in the 1970s, Chapter Two tells the story of successful writer George Schneider, who is mourning the recent death of his beloved wife when he meets a bright, vivacious actress. George is eager to rush into another marriage following a whirlwind courtship, but the memories of his wife threaten to ruin his second chance for happiness. This witty romance deals with more than love and grief, but what it means to have a fresh start and a new lease on life.

Royal Family Productions, a non-profit theatre company known for its innovative productions and development of new original work, will extend its acclaimed production of WOMEN ON FIRE: Stories from the Frontlines to accommodate the demand. WOMEN ON FIRE is written, curated, and directed by Royal Family artistic director Chris Henry from stories told to her by a group of anonymous women, with choreography from Lorna Ventura. The show began performances on May 11 and extended twice due to popular demand and critical and industry acclaim. As previously announced, Feinstein's/54 Below will proudly present an evening of trunk songs by one of America's most celebrated composers, Charles Strouse, on Sunday, May 13th at 7:00pm. The one-night-only concert will salute the three-time Tony Award-winner with some of his best trunk songs, featuring material cut from some of his hit musicals, as well as songs that have never found their way to the stage, including numbers from the never-completed Star Wars musical. The legendary songwriter will sign copies of his celebrated memoir, Put On A Happy Face, after the performance.
