The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories - and bestowed one special award - for the 34th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts, beginning at 7:00pm EST. Last night, Mike Birbiglia was a guest on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' during the show's week in Brooklyn. Birbiglia, who is about to star on Broadway in 'The New One,' talks to Jimmy about living in Brooklyn and taking his show to Broadway. Birbliglia also brings up how Jimmy crying at the end of his show! Mike Birbiglia: The New One, (www.TheNewOne.com) a new comedy written and performed by Mike Birbiglia, has announced their student rush policy. Officially opening at the Cherry Lane Theatre, (38 Commerce Street) on August 2, producers will make up to 10 student rush tickets available for each performance, priced at $29 each. A valid student ID is required and rush tickets will go on sale 90 minutes before each performance. As Mike would like as many people as possible to have the opportunity to see his show, one ticket can be purchased per valid student ID, cash only.

Mike Birbiglia's return to off-Broadway in The New One is extending. On Wednesday, the run at the Cherry Lane Theatre sold out within hours of being put on sale. Even Birbiglia was a little taken aback, directing his Twitter followers to keep refreshing their browser because he didn't think it was possible it could sell out that quickly. The New One producer Mike Lavoie said, 'I haven't seen anything like this since we produced Oh, Hello at the Cherry Lane. It was then that we knew that we had a potential hit Broadway show and that's exactly what happened. Looks like Broadway may be in the future for The New One as well.' In the meantime, The New One is extending two more weeks. There's another show coming in to the Cherry Lane on August 27, so August 25 is absolutely the last performance there will be at this location.
