SF Sketchfest kicks off its 21st comedy festival with legend Eric Idle at the Castro Theatre on Thursday, January 18 followed by over 200 shows taking place through February 4 in venues across San Francisco.

SF Sketchfest has revealed the initial lineup for the 2024 Comedy Festival in San Francisco. Tickets go on sale on November 19.

Talent on the red carpet included Mel Brooks, Nick Kroll, Ike Barinholtz, Wanda Sykes, Josh Gad, Dove Cameron, Pamela Adlon, Sarah Silverman, Jason Mantzoukas, Poppy Liu, Nick Robinson, Atsuko Okatsuka, others. When funny ladies Allison Dunbar and Emily Pendergrast decided to produce a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood September 16th, they simply picked up their phones and called their Sister Groundlings to participate. The roster for September 16th includes current main company members, as well as Groundlings alumni. Deanna Oliver directs Lauren Burns, Patty Guggenheim, Rachel Harris, Phyllis Katz, Lyric Lewis, Karen Maruyama, Laraine Newman, Cheri Oteri, Jessica Pohly, Ariane Price, Lisa Schurga, Annie Sertich, Cathy Shambley, Mindy Sterling, Christen Sussin and Michaela Watkins. I had the chance to catch the very busy Allison to respond to a few questions between her recent nuptials and the fundraiser.

SF Sketchfest announces additions to the 20th Anniversary comedy festival taking place January 7-23 in venues across San Francisco.

The original cast album of In Strange Woods, the critically acclaimed docu-musical fiction podcast by Atypical Artists, one of The New York Times “Best Winter Podcasts”, and #1 on Apple's fiction podcast chart during the show's rollout, is now available wherever you stream your music.

Beth Leavel makes her fiction podcast debut as the focus of next Monday’s episode of In Strange Woods. Known primarily for her comedic roles, here Leavel makes a fierce dramatic turn with her tour-de-force performance as Sandra Howland-Pierce, estranged cousin to Howl, played by Tony Award nominee Patrick Page.

Not a typical show you'd find at The Groundlings, Annie Sertich's 'How to Not Kill Yourself for 30 Daysa??and the Next 330' is an exciting and different play about love and loss that will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. In the hopes to destigmatize talking about mental health, the show is a frank story about Annie's personal struggles, juxtaposed with her natural humor that still provides a lot of laughs, as in usual Groundlings fashion. Annie's show has been seen by sold out audiences during previous runs in Los Angeles, New York and Edinburgh.
