New York City Gay Men's Chorus Commemorates 50th Anniversary Of Stonewall Uprising At Carnegie Hall

The New York City Gay Men's Chorus(NYCGMC) commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, presenting the New York premiere of Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall50, a new choral suite written by a diverse group of LGBTQ composers, including Tony nominated singer/songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway, director of Broadway Inspirational Voices Michael McElroy, writer and producer on Golden Globe -nominated TV series Pose Our Lady J, musical theater composers Julian Hornik and Mike Shaieb, and Artistic Director of One Voice Chorus Jane Ramseyer Miller. The performance will directly coincide with when the Stonewall riots began, fifty years prior.

DSM High School Musical Theatre Awards To Recognize Top Talent From North Texas

More than 300 area high school students will perform on the main stage of the Music Hall at Fair Park on Thursday, May 9 as part of the 2019 Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA).  Winners will be named in 18 categories that recognize artistic and educational achievements of North Texas students and their high school programs.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast for the world premiere of Kiss My Aztec! John Leguizamo teams up with Artistic Director Tony Taccone for this musical comedy, following their collaboration on the hit one-man show Latin History for Morons, which received its world premiere at Berkeley Rep before heading to Broadway. Leguizamo will serve as co-writer and co-lyricist only for Kiss My Aztec! - 11 other talented actors will perform in this production. Taccone will also direct.

The San Diego Women's Chorus ('SDWC'), San Diego's premier lesbian-identified community chorus, is proud to present a monumental 2019 spring concert performance titled 'Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall.' The event will feature a brand new commissioned work of the same name that honors the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City by relaying the events that kickstarted the modern international LGBTQ movement. In addition to the 'Quiet No More' commission, SDWC will be performing a selection of electrifying and empowering pieces, including songs like 'You Will Be Found' from the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, and the Isley Brothers' throwback, 'Fight the Power.' This inspiring event will take place on Saturday, May 18, 7 PM and Sunday, May 19, 4 PM, 2019 at the Lincoln High School Center for Performing Arts, 4777 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113.

As part of the annual event that features gender-reversed versions of musical theatre numbers, Bryan Terrell Clark (Hamilton, Motown the Musical) and Michael McElroy (Sunday in the Park with George, The Who's Tommy) took on 'What About Love,' from The Color Purple. The emotional first-act finale is typically sung by the characters of Celie and Shug Avery.
