The nominees have been announced for the 2020 Theatre Tampa Bay Awards! 25 plays and 5 musicals were eligible for nomination before the remainder of the 2019-2020 season was cancelled in March.

It's a real nail-biter!

Nestled in the Catskill Mountains, Mount Tremper Arts (MTA) is an artist-founded laboratory space dedicated to supporting artists in the creation and presentation of new works of contemporary art. Beginning on June 15, they will present eight new experimental performances-deeply rooted in collaboration and activism-through their Watershed Lab. Guided by the metaphor of the Catskills as the watershed for New York City, MTA serves as the artistic headwaters for works that are incubated through residencies and performances before traveling to presenting partners in NYC.

Primary Stages announces casting forLittle Women written by Kate Hamill (Pride and Prejudice), based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, and directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George). Performances begin at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St, New York, NY, 10014) on May 15, 2019 with opening night set for Tuesday, June 4, for a run through June 29, 2019.

For the characters at the center of Bess Wohl's world premiere play, MAKE BELIEVE, the opening production of Hartford Stage's 2018 - 2019 season, childhood fantasy fills a void and serves as a protective shield. Imagination shelters the children at the center of the play (and even their grown-up selves) from their real-life problems and provides a shared bond that carries on throughout their lives.

Dancing at Lughnasa is being performed at Two River Theater through May 13. The 1992 Tony Award winning play is written by Brian Friel and directed by Jessica Stone. This is theatre at its very best with stirring dialogue, the finest staging, and a remarkable cast. You will be swept away by this humorous and heartwarming production about the joys and struggles of family life.

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the complete cast and creative team for its production of Brian Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa, winner of the 1992 Tony Award for Best Play. Written by Tom Stoppard, directed by Cheryl Faraone and presented by the Potomac Theatre Project as a start to its wondrous 31st season, Arcadia truly tests the limits of what constitutes a good show by not only compelling the audience to listen and understand, but also to feel and experience: a mix that makes for one spectacular theatrical experience. The research conducted, the knowledge of the world that permeates the air combined with that which has yet to be discovered makes for an entrancing and intellectual plot, not to mention one that hardly lacks for humor or more relatable human emotion.
