Interview: Kristine Nielsen Talks Summers in Cotuit and Appearing in a Broadway SMASH

Kristine Nielsen has made her name on Broadway playing roles in all kinds of comedies and dramas, but only a very few musicals. She’s changing that up this season, however, portraying Susan Proctor, an Actors’ Studio teacher and confidante to Ivy Lynn, a Broadway star preparing to play Marilyn Monroe, in the new musical comedy “Smash,” at New York’s Imperial Theatre.

The Queen of Versailles, currently in previews at the St. James Theatre, is based on the 2012 documentary of the same name. The show follows Jackie Siegel, played by Kristin Chenoweth on stage, from humble beginnings to success as a Florida pageant winner and eventual lavish lifestyle maven building a mansion fit for royalty with her ambitious husband.

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS Comes to Southwark Theatre Borough in January 2024

Following its short run at The Cockpit Theatre in June 2022, Grace Joy Howarth's searing journey into the lives of slaughterhouse workers heads to Southwark Playhouse Borough in early 2024.  Blood On Your Hands is presented by up-and-coming activist theatre company Patch Plays in a production that runs from 17 January to 3 February.

A film adaptation of Jerry Torre and Tony Maietta's The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens memoir is in the works. Torre was named 'The Marble Faun' by Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale, mostly known as Big Edie and Little Edie through the iconic 1975 documentary, Grey Gardens.

Mmmkay Productions has announced a Hollywood Fringe Festival production of Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You, written by Christopher Durang and directed by Jeramiah Peay. The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Shayna Gabrielle, Lea Madda, Michael Mullen, Will Potter, Chris Ramirez, and Liam Risinger.
