The next chapter in Japanese rock legends Boris' story has arrived; their new double LP LφVE & EVφL is set for release on October 4th via Third Man Records. This double LP exists as two independent works, encapsulating conflicting connotations that interweave and become intricately entangled with one another, gradually eroding before becoming utterly singular. Continuing to tinker and toil with their sound since the 2017 release of DEAR, Boris have pivoted onward a more organic, non-grid literary style that LφVE & EVφL showcases. The album's first single, “Love,” is one of the most musically diverse in their career and showcases a snippet of what is to come on LφVE & EVφL.

To kick off the album announcement, Starcrawler share the heavy, swinging and brutally catchy “Bet My Brains” alongside its manic and murderous music video. “That song came from thinking about the tunnel people in New York and Vegas and the Catacombs in France, and the underground village of people who live in the sewers of the L.A. River,” says de Wilde. “I was fascinated with the fact that there is a whole other world happening right under our feet.” Guitarist and vocalist Henri Cash adds: “Arrow and I hadn't even talked about it yet, but I'd already written something about the same thing—about how these people's eyes adapt to pitch-blackness, and they end up going crazy from never seeing the sunlight.” Check out the song and the Jellyclaw-directed video below!

In an accompanying interview, frontman Isaac Eiger discussed the album's apocalyptic themes, saying, 'Climate change isn't just a specter anymore - it's happening, and it's killing people, and it's going to kill a lot more people. Those sorts of forces now actually do cause real, immediate, in-your-face anxiety and terror and fear, and so I think personally that I can write about it in an honest way, because now I feel closer to it.'

Returning for its third US edition Independent Venue Week has announced that next year's event will take place from July 6-12, 2020. With support from Independent Venue Week's partners, including exclusive ticketing partner Eventbrite, the event grew tremendously in its second American iteration, from 20 venues in 20 cities in 2018 to more than 80 venues across more than 50 cities in 2019. 'In Independent Venue Week's second year, our goal was to increase awareness for both the venues and this national initiative,' says Rev. Moose, Managing Partner of Marauder, the producers of the US event, 'Throughout the event we met with independent venue owners and promoters from around the country talking about their specific needs. Moving forward, we hope to have Independent Venue Week be a gathering opportunity for one focused week and a form of support for the rest of the year.'
