Lydia Ainsworth's new album Phantom Forest is out today. The composer/producer/vocalist wrote Phantom Forest as an homage to the resilient strength of Mother Nature.

Breakout singer-songwriter J.S. Ondara will support Neil Young on select west coast shows this month. Ondara will also continue touring throughout the summer and fall in support of his debut LP Tales of America. The dates follow his completely sold out debut headline run, and will also include special appearances at Xponential Festival and Newport Folk Festival. Today, NY's Charly Bliss have released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Young Enough, via Barsuk Records. 

Since releasing her first album under the name My Brightest Diamond in 2006, Shara Nova (formerly Shara Worden) has been a triple threat: an art-rock songwriter, a classical music composer, and a singer for whom a number of other contemporary composers have written music. My Brightest Diamond is where she gets to sing her own music, which is thoughtful without being mopey, and which demonstrates that songs sung from a woman's point of view are also capable of balls-to-the-wall attitude. Today we premiere the new video for her song “Dorian,” which is the second single she's released this year, after the Valentine's Day's song “Another Chance.” The occasion this time is the start of a new stretch of shows beginning on May 8 in Minneapolis and rolling into her old stomping grounds of New York on May 14. (Shara has lived in Detroit since 2009 but has continued to maintain a presence on the New York new music scene.) The song, which contains everything from birds to buzzing electric guitar, seems to occupy that tenuous place between love and obsession, between desire and the desire to control. The video is a similarly elusive blend of the abstract and the concrete, with hypnotic lines that resolve to form silhouetted people and birds. 

Operators, the synth-pop band have shared another new track, “I Feel Emotion”, off their forthcoming sophomore LP Radiant Dawn, out May 17th on Last Gang. The band, featuring Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits), Devojka, and Sam Brown (Divine Fits, New Bomb Turks), teamed up with directors Caleb Bardgett and Johnny Dunn for the song's video, who explain that “its set in a world newly-devoid of human life, and these TV sets are the last artifacts of human emotion, playing loops from lost transmissions from some other space-time.”  Pre-order Radiant Dawn HERE.

Acclaimed Swedish songwriter Daniel Norgren has announced an upcoming North American Tour, in support of the new release Wooh Dang, out earlier this month on his own Superpuma Records. The tour will see Daniel and his band returning to Chicago, New York, Boston, Toronto, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles. As well as first-time stops in Louisville, Asheville, Nashville, Washington, D.C., Boulder, and at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Tennessee/Virginia. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 3rd at 10am local time.

Acclaimed Swedish songwriter Daniel Norgren has announced an upcoming North American Tour, in support of the new release Wooh Dang, out earlier this month on his own Superpuma Records.

Kansas City band Hembree will release their debut album House On Fire via Thirty Tigers and today they are excited to announce an extensive U.S. SiriusXM AltNation Advanced Placement Tour tour. Operators, the synth-pop band featuring Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits), Devojka, and Sam Brown (Divine Fits, New Bomb Turks), have announced that their newest album, Radiant Dawn, will be out this May 17th on Last Gang Records. Lydia Ainsworth's new record Phantom Forest is out May 10, and today she shares its third and final single, the ornate album opener 'Diamonds Cutting Diamonds.''Lyrically, I am singing about the entrance to Phantom Forest,' says Ainsworth, 'and how one must draw from the innate feminine wild within to unlock obstacles along the path.' Wonderland Magazine, who premiered the track today, write, 'the vibrant gem pulses with trickling synth-notes, retro 80s tones, and the classic, piercing vocals of Ainsworth.'

Victory Gardens Theater continues its 44th season with the Chicago Premiere of Cambodian Rock Band, written by Lauren Yee, featuring songs by Dengue Fever and directed by Marti Lyons. Cambodian Rock Band runs April 5 - May 5, 2010, with press performance on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 7:30pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue. Victory Gardens is also pleased to announce a partnership with Lincoln Hall to present Dengue Fever in concert on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

JR JR are pleased to share the latest song from their forthcoming double album Invocations / Conversations, due out May 31st. “Dumb Myself Down” premieres via Billboard, who write that “there are plenty of smarts on the band's new double album” and discuss JR JR's newly formed label in partnership with Secretly Distribution, LOVE IS EZ records (read more HERE). “Dumb Myself Down” follows “Big Bear Mountain” which was featured on NPR Music's “New Music Friday” playlist. Parcels just released their latest cinematic visual from their widely acclaimed self-titled debut album (Kitsuné / Because Music / Caroline), as they get set to make their Coachella debut this Saturday, April 13 and continue their headline shows throughout North America. The five young Berlin-based Australian musicians shared 'Tape' today, filmed amongst their fans at Chicago's Lincoln Hall during their sold out winter North American tour and captures the energy of their live show. The video also features the reveal of 'Penelope,' the enigmatic presence who is weaved throughout their album campaign including the Parcels album cover. Today, NY's Charly Bliss have shared a video for 'Hard To Believe,' the latest from their highly anticipated new album, Young Enough. Noisey, who premiered the Henry Kaplan-directed video today is saying 'the Brooklyn band's latest preview of their forthcoming sophomore effort might be their best yet.' and is calling it 'an anthemic, literal kiss-off that features one of the band's most explosive choruses of their catalogue.'

Operators have shared their first new song since 2016, entitled “Faithless”. Featuring Dan Boeckner's distinct vocals and knack for writing memorable choruses, driven forward with a pulsing energy by keyboardist Devojka and drummer Sam Brown's relentless beats.

Breakout singer-songwriter J.S. Ondara has confirmed new North American dates this fall, with nights in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and more. The new dates follow Ondara's current sold out debut headline tour, as well as stops at Xponential Festival andNewport Folk Festival. 

Today, prolific songwriter, instrumentalist and producer Phil Cook releases an instrumental album called As Far As I Can See:  Instrumental Recordings 2009-2019. The collection combines Cook's favorite moments from out of print releases, as well as four unreleased recordings, into a brilliant companion to his more widely released output.  The compilation is available today digitally on Psychic Hotline with a limited edition deluxe LP version out on May 31. Jamestown Revival's highly anticipated new album, San Isabel, will be released June 14 onThirty Tigers and is now available for pre-order. In advance of the release, the band's new song, “This Too Shall Pass,” premiered yesterday at Rolling Stone (listen/share HERE). Of the track, Rolling Stone praises, “…bright harmonies and loping guitar patterns…an optimistic track that splits the difference between modern-day Americana and old-school folk.” Additionally, an acoustic performance video of the song, featuring band members Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance, can now be viewed/shared HERE.  

Ohtis have revealed a short film inspired by their captivating single 'Runnin' - a track Line Of Best Fit have noted the band 'project their adept storytelling ability and team it with an elegant country melody.'  It was directed by Claes Nordwall (Parquet Courts, Steve Gunn) who states, 'I was really entranced by the beautiful pedal steel laced Americana music and the heart wrenching back story and wanted to make a delicate film portrait of a young person struggling with addiction. The line in the lyrics referencing the situation where Sam almost lost his dog in a car accident in New Mexico made me want to make something that shows the life saving impact an animal can have.'
