International City Theatre opens its 2024 season this weekend with the world premiere of “Marilyn, Mom & Me,” Luke Yankee’s deeply personal, funny and moving story about the unlikely friendship that developed between Marilyn Monroe and the playwright's mother, Broadway legend Eileen Heckart, during the filming of 'Bus Stop' in 1956. Luke Yankee’s Marilyn, Mom & Me world premieres February 16, 2024, at the International City Theatre. Written by Luke, he also directs the cast of Laura Gardner, Alisha Soper, Jacquelin Lorraine Schofield, Brian Rohan and Noah Wagner.

International City Theatre will open its 2024 season with the world premiere of Yankee’s deeply personal comic drama, Marilyn, Mom & Me.

Three new short plays from writers Shira Gorelick, Matt Gottlieb, and Lauren Schaffel are receiving a staged reading at Downtown LA's Der Nister on September 10.

Lending their voices to the film are family members, colleagues and those whose lives Mary Tyler Moore impacted including directors Rob Reiner, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, and Jim Burrows, actors Ed Asner, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lena Waithe, Phylicia Rashad, Bernadette Peters, and Joel Grey. THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY (Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director) in partnership with the Jewish Plays Project (David Winitsky, Artistic Director), have announced a one-night only reading presentation of 2021 National Jewish Playwriting Contest Winner, WHO BY FIRE, written by Talisa Friedman and directed by legendary casting director John Levey.

Young People's Theatre will present its holiday production – a fresh and humorous adaptation of Snow White by Greg Banks, directed by Aurora Browne (co-creator and star of CBC's Baroness von Sketch Show) in its Canadian premiere. Nudging the classic toward a more timely interpretation, this clever twist is a two-actor take on the beloved fairy tale that is fun for the whole family. Snow White is presented on the Ada Slaight Stage Nov. 21, 2022 – Jan. 7, 2023.

In the short play Escape from Cottage Woods, Macie, 94, is a longtime resident of a retirement community in a bucolic setting in North Carolina. Lily, her daughter, believes that Macie is being overmedicated into a compliant, zombified state by the establishment's staff. Macie and Lily have some unresolved mother-daughter issues.

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, The Other Side of the Hill Productions Inc. in association with SPARK Theatrical present the first show of the Road's 2019-2020 season, the world premiere of THE SPANISH PRAYER BOOK, written by Angela J. Davis and directed by Lee Sankowich. THE SPANISH PRAYER BOOK will preview on Tuesday, September 17; Wednesday, September 18 & Thursday, September 19 at 8pm; will open on Friday, September 20 at 8pm and run through Sunday, November 23 at the Road Theatre on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

The popular Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest (GAAF) returns to Rogers Park for its 18th year on August 17-18, 2019, bringing more than 120 artists and two outdoor music stages to the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, steps from the Morse Red Line 'L' stop at 6900-7000 N. Glenwood Avenue and 1300-1500 W. Morse Avenue. Admission is free to the public. The Fest includes an art fair, live entertainment with more than 30 acts, kids' artmaking activities, food and drinks from local restaurants, and live demonstrations of performance art and artmaking. Debrianna Mansini brings her Italian brand of actorvism to LA 's Hollywood Fringe Festival. "Actorvist" Debrianna Mansini (Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad) will be in Los Angeles in June to perform the LA Premiere of The Meatball Chronicles as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. But the show alone is not enough for Mansini- she will also use the opportunity to advocate for those who need an extra voice. She will be working to raise awareness for New Mexico congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham's Bipartisan Anti-Lunch Shaming bill HR 2401and Senator Tom Udall's senate Anti-Lunch Shaming Act, S.1064.
