Previews: THE REPERTORY THEATRE OF ST LOUIS Announces Their 60th Anniversary Season

Fresh off their 13-wins at last night’s St. Louis Theatre Circle Awards, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis announces their upcoming season celebrating their Diamond Anniversary at The Rep. This season, 60-years in the making, include five mainstage performances, three productions in the Steve Woolf Studio Series, and launches their new Diamond Concert Series.

New Jewish Theatre’s 14 wins and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ 13 wins sweep the St. Louis Theatre Circle Awards. In ceremonies on Monday night, New Jewish Theatre’s production of Cabaret won the most awards, including Outstanding Production of a musical. The Rep’s productions of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s The Brothers Size and The Cottage were named Outstanding Production of a Drama and Outstanding Production of a Comedy.

This jukebox musical, directed by Augustin Family Artistic Director Kate Bergstrom, offers a condensed biography of Cash’s life, told through his music. From his early childhood in Arkansas to his rise to fame at Sun Records, addiction battles, and his advocacy, there’s a lot to cram into two hours.

The Repertory Theatre Of St. Louis To Present PRIMARY TRUST

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will present Primary Trust by Eboni Booth, winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Directed by Tyrone Phillips, the production explores themes of grief, friendship, and imagination through a contemporary lens.

The Rep Will Present MRS. KRISHNAN’S PARTY In The Steve Woolf Studio Series

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will present Mrs. Krishnan’s Party as part of its Steve Woolf Studio Series. Created by Indian Ink Theatre Company, the immersive production invites audiences into an interactive performance space where food, music, and storytelling unfold together.

This past season was the year of the comedy in St. Louis Theater. Companies across the city had audiences laughing all season long with slapstick, farce, and satire. There were some wonderful musical productions that really sang, a few hard hitting dramas, but comedies reigned in both quantity and quality. Instead of publishing a Top 10 list this year, I’m going to recognize the Best in St. Louis Theater for 2025. “The Best” is still a shortened list of just 13 shows out of the nearly 90 shows I saw this past year. It took weeks of thought and painstaking consideration to decide which productions would be included in my annual list. Here they are. The productions are listed in alphabetical order, not ranked by favorites:

The St. Louis Rep Previews Their 2025-2026 Season of Daring Imagination

This morning The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ Danny Williams, Kate Bergstrom, Delaney Piggins, and Brian Coats welcomed invited members of the press to share The Rep’s plans for what they are calling their ‘Season of Daring Imagination.’ This year’s season will include five mainstage shows with an additional three shows in the Steve Woolf Studio Series. Bergstrom, the Augustin Family Artistic Director said, “This year we’ve planned relevant, excellent, and extraordinary experiences for our audience.”
