Co-directed and co-choreographed by Jordan Nichols and Travis Bradley, this high energy American musical is set in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1962. Tracy Turnblad's dream is to be on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance show.

The regional premiere of the Disney Broadway musical, Newsies, will open the 2018-19 season at Theatre Memphis on the Lohrey Stage. Running August 24 - September 16, 2018, the story is set in New York City in 1899 and follows Jack Kelly and his fellow orphans and runaways who distribute newspapers to the public to survive. When newspaper owners raise the price of distribution at the "newsies" expense, Jack leads his young army toward responsibility and fights for a cause to help them all reach the dream of a better life.
