As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Matthew Lopez's The Inheritance, directed by Stephen Daldry, was set to conclude its Broadway run today, March 15, after 46 previews and 138 regular performances. Instead, the show's run ended a few days early, due to Broadway's COVID-19 shut-down.

Producers Tom Kirdahy, Sonia Friedman Productions, and Hunter Arnold announced today that Matthew Lopez' THE INHERITANCE, directed by Stephen Daldry, will conclude its Broadway run on Sunday, March 15th. THE INHERITANCE began previews on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theater (243 West 47th street) on Friday, September 27th, 2019 and officially opened on Sunday, November 17th, 2019. At the conclusion of the run, the production will have played 46 previews (28 of The Inheritance and 18 of The Inheritance Part 2) and 138 performances (86 of The Inheritance and 52 of The Inheritance Part 2).

The Inheritance by Matthew Lopez has announced a new community engagement initiative: the 'Lobby Series.' In 1976 on Broadway, just 11 songs into the 2-hour performance, the audience erupted into a show stopping standing ovation. That, and the well-earned nightly show-ending standing ovations proved how powerful and moving this musical was in '76 and will be again in February, with the re-imagined 21st century version of Hamlet The Rock Musical.
