Folger Theatre announced the cast and creative team of William Shakespeare's As You Like It, on stage at the Folger's Elizabethan-style Theatre on Capitol Hill from March 10 through April 12, 2026.

Shakespeare Theatre Company has revealed the full cast and creative team of Othello, directed by STC Artistic Director Simon Godwin and featuring Wendell Pierce in the titular role.

The play The Scenarios successfully proves the fact that it is impossible to fit the messiness and vagaries of life into the role-playing scenarios (that are well-intentioned) that society often employs to help with remediation and beneficial effects. This World Premiere that is being presented by Studio Theatre is an intriguing concept of a play that is very solidly produced by a tight acting ensemble, but I wish it could have been a bit longer to develop the backstories of the characters.

Aaron Sorkin’s script and Bartlett Sher’s direction gain heightened context and nuance from the rise in racial violence in the last decade. The national tour with Richard Thomas as Atticus Finch, which visited D.C. in June 2022, is again at the Kennedy Center though August 27.

What did our critic think of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at Bass Concert Hall?

Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird was adapted for the stage by Aaron Sorkin and opened on Broadway at the Schubert Theatre in December of 2018. The play is set in 1930s Alabama and follows the story of Atticus Finch, a small-town lawyer in his defense trial of Tom Robinson, an African American man wrongfully accused of rape. However, Sorkin’s adaptation differs from the book by Lee, in which we see Atticus as the protagonist here, unlike the portrayal of Scout in Lee’s novel. Witnessing Atticus as the protagonist of the story we go on an emotional journey, and are able to see the change in Atticus as the show progresses. As Sorkin developed his adaptation, the production was faced with its own legal disputes. One being with the Lee estate in regards to its faithfulness to the original narrative, and the other to exclusivity rights regarding the use of the script by Christopher Sergel.
