Save the Date! The Theatre World Awards announced today the landmark 75th Annual Theatre World Awards Ceremony will take place on Monday evening, June 3, 2019 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The world premiere of The Lifespan of a Fact officially opens on Broadway tonight, October 18 at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). The production stars Daniel Radcliffe (Privacy, 'Harry Potter'), Cherry Jones (The Glass Menagerie, Doubt, '24'), and Bobby Cannavale (The Mother with the Hat, 'I, Tonya'). Written by Jeremy Kareken & David Murrell and Gordon Farrell, the play is directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman.

As BroadwayWorld reported in July, long-time theatre critic Joe Dziemianowicz parted ways with the New York Daily News following reports of cuts in the publication's editorial team. Now changes are underway at the Post.

In the last few decades, theater has become much bigger business than it used to be. However, in that same period of time, the coverage of it in mainstream media outlets has dwindled. Many of us may not remember a time that off-Broadway openings were covered on Entertainment Tonight, but it happened. In recent years, even in America's theater epicenter, theater is losing ground in major publications. Neither The New York Post or The New York Daily News has a critic on staff any longer. It is hard to even tally the amount of veteran theater writers from around the country that have lost their jobs in the last decade.

PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL, with original music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance, a book by Garry Marshall and the film's screenwriter J.F. Lawton, and direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, opens tonight, Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that long-time theatre critic from the New York Daily News, Joe Dziemianowicz, will part ways with the publication. The news comes following reports that the Daily News is reducing its editorial team by 50%.

The New York Drama Critics' Circle awards were presented at a private cocktail reception last night. Thursday, May 10. The award for best play carries a cash prize of $2,500.
