Austin-based singer-songcrafter/upright bassist Melissa Carper has announced her forthcoming LP, Borned In Ya, due out July 19th via Mae Music/Thirty Tigers, with the release of its first single and video, “Lucky Five.” The song is a lighthearted track about past relationships. MerleFest concluded its annual spring homecoming this weekend with its ‘Traditional Plus' celebration, drawing both seasoned attendees and newcomers to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC.

That willingness to confront pays off handsomely on Rumble Strip, which combines Leventhal's distinctive, lyrical guitar work, full-band productions with and without vocals, solo guitar pieces that draw on Leventhal's love for classical music and Anglican hymns, and humid blasts of Southern soul, country twang, and improvisation. 

MerleFest's full 2024 lineup includes Old Crow Medicine Show, Turnpike Troubadours, The Teskey Brothers, Nickel Creek, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Larkin Poe, Lukas Nelson & POTR, Steep Canyon Rangers, Dan Tyminski Band, Béla Fleck My Bluegrass Heart, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, The Earls of Leicester, and more.

The 2024 Suwannee Spring Reunion features music on multiple stages and includes Sam Bush, Railroad Earth, Steep Canyon Rangers, Peter Rowan Walls of Time Band, Donna the Buffalo, Keller Williams' PettyGrass ft. The HillBenders, Bettye LaVette, The Steel Wheels, Town Mountain, Seth Walker, Jon Stickley Trio, Fireside Collective, and more.

The Shootouts will make their debut performance on the Grand Ole Opry. The rite of passage showcase comes on the same date as the release of their third full-length album. Stampede is produced by Ray Benson and is packed with appearances from Raúl Malo, Marty Stuart, Jim Lauderdale, Buddy Miller, Benson & members of Asleep at the Wheel.

MerleFest, presented by Window World, has just added another huge list of performers to its already stacked 2023 lineup—which featured headliners like The Avett Brothers and Maren Morris.

Stampede came as a surprise to the band. Only months after the April 2021 release of their Top 10 Americana Radio album Bullseye, The Shootouts received word that the legendary Ray Benson wanted to produce their next album and they quickly headed back into the studio. Featuring a stellar lineup of local North Carolina artists, many of whom are foundational to the label’s beginnings, the Cat’s Cradle main room will include performances by: Dawn Landes; The Old Ceremony; Jennyanykind; Mayflies USA; Chris Stamey; and Caitlin Cary, who will headline the show with her first live performance since 2005.

Jim Lauderdale kicks off Game Changer—his 35th full-length album—with “That Kind Of Life (That Kind Of Day).' Fans can listen to “That Kind Of Life (That Kind Of Day)” now. He’s also just been named a 2022 nominee for the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Plus, check out upcoming tour dates!

Weston Theater Company announces the artists for their summer concert series at Walker Farm in Weston.

Bassist Bob Glaub (Jackson Browne/Linda Ronstadt/Bonnie Raitt), guitarist and back-up vocalist Brian Whelan (Jim Lauderdale/Chris Shiftlett/Dwight Yoakam), keyboardist John Ginty (The Dixie Chicks/The Allman Betts Band/Citizen Cope), and pedal steel guitarist Doug Pettibone (John Mayer/Tracy Chapman/Norah Jones) also appear on the track.

Old Crow Medicine Show, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Allison Russell, and We Banjo 3 will join an already impressive lineup which includes performances by Emmylou Harris, Greensky Bluegrass, Rissi Palmer, and more. Angus Gill has released The Scrapbook, an 11-song treasure trove of heartfelt bluegrass recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic. The album, out via Rivershack Records/MGM, features Gill backed by a stellar lineup of Grammy-winning musicians and affords him the chance to show a different side to his well-honed songwriting and musicianship.

Fox Concerts has announced country music singer and songwriter CODY JINKS will play at the Fabulous Fox Theatre Saturday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. with very special guest Randy Rogers Band.

The legendary Hollywood Palomino Club will be resurrected during Americanafest week at The Basement East on the evening of September 21st. As in the tradition of the Palomino, there will be an updated version of the 'World Famous Palomino Talent Show.”
