Sing For Your Seniors, the New York City–based nonprofit that brings live musical performances to older adults, has announced a landmark partnership with members of the world-renowned Metropolitan Opera Chorus Artists.
We have stories from the decline of intervals in London productions to significant organizational changes in regional and international theaters. Other stories include the financial challenges faced by Berkeley's Aurora Theatre, the preservation efforts for Washington's National Theatre, and the strategic rebranding of arts organizations.
For nearly 20 years, Sing For Your Seniors has brought Broadway-caliber talent into senior centers across New York City, providing afternoon sessions of showtunes and camaraderie to audiences in need of connection.
Sing For Your Seniors brought cast members from 'The Cher Show,' 'Chicago The Musical' and 'Cats The Musical' to Encore Community Services in midtown on June 25th.
The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) announces full casting for the Theatre Company's production of A Christmas Carol and Off-Center's production of The SantaLand Diaries. The 2018 production of The SantaLand Diaries will mark the final year of the annual collaboration between Off-Center and Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC).
A downpour from the roof. Sounds crazy, no? On September 18th, cast members from 'Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish' opened with an impromptu chorus of 'Singin' in the Rain' as tarps were spread to catch the raindrops from a leaky skylight. And then, wonder of wonders, the rain stopped (indoors at least), and session leader Maggie Davenport introduced the cast to an enthusiastic Lenox Hill Neighborhood House crowd.

On August 2, 2018, Sing For Your Seniors (SFYS) hosted the latest in its series of Broadway Sessions with cast members from the National Tour of 'Les Miserables' for the residents of Briarwood Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Denver while on their stop at the Denver Center of the Performing Arts. SFYS partnered with Denver nonprofit Bessie's Hope, an organization that enhances the quality of life for nursing home and assisted living elders through volunteer opportunities for youth, families, and organizations.
On June 15, 2018, Sing For Your Seniors hosted the latest in its series of Broadway Sessions with cast members from "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" at the Edie Windsor SAGE Center in Chelsea as part of Pride Month. SAGE is the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT older adults. The musical performance included songs of the performers' choosing as well of songs from "Beautiful." The audience enjoyed a one-hour session, as well as a meet-and-greet visit with the cast following the performance.
Sing For Your Seniors brought cast members of Broadway hit 'War Paint' to perform for senior members of the LGBT community in SAGE's midtown headquarters on August 10th. They sang numbers from their show and some of their favorite Broadway standards for their enthusiastic audience.
On March 13th, 2017, Sing For Your Seniors (SFYS) hosted the latest in its series of Broadway Sessions with cast members from the National Tour of 'An American in Paris' for the seniors at Morning Star Adult Day Program in Denver while on their stop at the Denver Center of the Performing Arts. The musical performance, led by SFYS Session Leader Daniel Torres (Broadway: Beautiful, Evita, The Pirate Queen, The Woman in White, Off-Broadway: Altar Boyz, National Tour: Wicked), included songs of the performers' choosing as well as songs from Cats.
