The story of Live Aid, raising hundreds of millions remains compelling. Bob Geldof's indefatigable efforts to rouse the world into action deserve to be brought to the stage, but not necessarily in this format.

The Old Vic has announced further casting for the upcoming musical Just For One Day, written by John O’Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire, Something Rotten) and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, The Little Big Things). 

An all new trailer has been released for Sondheim’s Assassins featuring Amy Booth-Steel, Carly Mercedes Dyer, Harry Hepple, Danny Mac, Sam Oladeinde and Jack Shalloo singing a medley from three of the show’s outstanding numbers: Everybody’s Got The Right, The Gun Song and Unworthy of Your Love. Audiences will be catapulted into the American political arena where music, folklore and show-business collide head-on with the American Dream, for the first major production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Assassins since the composer’s death in 2021.

Chichester Festival Theatre’s Festival 2023 – the final season programmed by outgoing Artistic Director Daniel Evans – has been announced by Daniel and Executive Director Kathy Bourne.

A definite sign that London may be heading back to some sort of normality is the live return of The Old Vic’s award-winning adaptation of A Christmas Carol. After streaming a version last year, the theatre is now back to hosting one of the highlights of the festive season, complete with Victorian bell-ringing, mince pies and one of literature’s most heart-warming stories of love and redemption

Production images are now available from Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit Old Vic production of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic A Christmas Carol, joyously adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and starring Stephen Mangan (The Split, Green Wing, Episodes). 

The Old Vic has announced the casting for Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit production of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic A Christmas Carol, joyously adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). The Old Vic’s A Christmas Carol returns with a live audience on 24 November, with previews from 13 November. 

Following a pilot in December, Perfect Pitch and stream.theatre will be partnering to present Rise:Up, a monthly preview of a new British musical highlighting the newest UK writing talent.

The Old Vic presents the World Premiere of Girl From the North Country, an electrifying new work written and directed by Conor McPherson along with classic songs from Bob Dylan. Girl from the North Country plays at the Old Vic until 7 October.

Defiantly rejecting the standard jukebox model, Conor McPherson's much-anticipated new work mining the back catalogue of Bob Dylan is labelled 'a play with songs' - or perhaps that should be a play and songs, with two distinct forms of storytelling weaving around one another, reflecting, deepening, revealing, in exquisitely soulful harmony.

The Old Vic will present the World Premiere of Girl From the North Country, an electrifying new work written and directed by Conor McPherson along with classic songs from Bob Dylan.

Actress and musician Bronagh Gallagher's work ranges from The Commitments, Pulp Fiction and Stars Wars on screen to War Horse on stage, as well as touring and recording albums with her band. Her latest project is Conor McPherson's Girl From the North Country, which incorporates Bob Dylan songs - it's currently in previews at the Old Vic.

The world premiere of Girl From the North Country, an electrifying new work written and directed by Conor McPherson, along with classic songs from Bob Dylan, opens at the Old Vic on 26 July. Book tickets here from £25!
