What did our critic think of FUTURE PERFECT at Foulds Theater?

Gretna Theatre will present four Family Series productions this summer at Mt. Gretna Playhouse. Each event is at 11:00 am on a summer Saturday morning, and sure to be fun for the whole family! Three of four performances will feature the 2023 Acting Apprentice Class, including Kayla Bassoff, Gerson Malave, Cassie Molloy, Tyler Shadle, Jeremiah Rosado, and Olivia Whitner.

South Shore Ballet Theatre (SSBT), the region’s pre-professional ballet school, hosts an “Open House Week,” from Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 9, from 4 to 7 pm, at its studios at 45 Industrial Park Road, Hingham. The week of activities are open to the public and admission is free, welcoming both prospective students and their families.

EdTA has announced its first-ever cohort of Premier Communities for Theatre Education, which celebrates school communities for their contributions to student success in theatre. To qualify, schools and districts must demonstrate that their theatre programs are rooted in EdTA’s Opportunity to Learn Standards and provide resources at or above levels suggested by the National Core Arts Standards in Theatre.

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), an international nonprofit dedicated to supporting theatre teachers, honoring student achievement, and expanding access to theatre education, will increase the diversity of its board leadership following an election where members voiced their support for EdTA's racial equity focus.

The American Academy of Arts and Letters announced the two recipients of the 2023 Richard Rodgers Awards for Musical Theater. Both winning musicals will receive funds toward their presentation in staged readings at nonprofit theaters in New York City.

Broadway actor Quentin Oliver Lee, who most recently starred Off-Broadway in Heather Christian's Oratorio For Living Things, has passed away at age 34 from colon cancer.
