New Work For Violin And Piano By Peri Mauer To Premiere Today

Peri Mauer's new piece for violin and piano will receive its first performance today, May 21, 2019, 7:00pm, at National Opera Center, Marc A. Scorca Hall, 330 7th Ave., NY, NY in a program of new music for violin, cello, piano and electronics presented by the New York Composers Circle It will be performed by violinist Esther Noh and pianist Geoffrey Burleson. Composed in 2019, a Violin and a Piano is in two contrasting movements. Also on the program are works by Roger Blanc, Frederick Boyle, Max Duykers,Jason Elkin, Scott D. Miller, Dary John Mizelle, and Craig Slon.

Inspirational Theatre Educators Recognized by National Association on Teacher Appreciation Day

 The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) recognizes individuals who have inspired their students and dedicated themselves to providing quality theatre education with the Inspirational Theatre Educator Award. Veteran theatre educators andEdTA members Richard Fairchild, Rebekah Hess, and Alissa Vogelgesang will each receive this award at EdTA's National Conference.

National Hall Of Fame To Induct Five Theatre Educators

Each year, the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) recognizes International Thespian Society (ITS) troupe directors, emeritus members, and other professional members who have dedicated themselves to the cause of theatre education for more than 20 years. The 2019 theatre educators to be inducted into the EdTA Hall of Fame include: James Thomas Bailey of Napa, California; Lynn Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Tony Matthes of Edina, Minnesota; Jennifer Morgan-Beuchat of Leavenworth, Kansas; and Robert Fowler of Chesterfield, Missouri. Ceremonies will take place in New York City at the 2019 EdTA National Conference.

Four School Theatre Programs Honored By National Association

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) recognizes schools whose theatre programs exemplify and promote high standards of quality in educational theatre with the Outstanding School Award. This year only four schools in the nation were honored: James A. Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington; Leavenworth Senior High School in Leavenworth, Kansas; Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, Washington; and Woodmont High School in Piedmont, South Carolina.

Broadway's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Treats D.C. Area Thespians To A Preview

The cast of the Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird presented 400 middle and high school students with a special performance at the Library of Congress on Tuesday to celebrate the culmination of Theatre in Our Schools Month, which is held annually in March. The students, from schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, are members of the International Thespian Society, the honor society for drama students.

By popular demand, Steppenwolf Theatre Company will host a second conversation with co-founder Gary Sinise on Monday, February 18 at 9pm, following the sold out 7pm discussion. During the event Sinise and fellow co-founder Jeff Perry will discuss Sinise's new book Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service in a candid conversation. A copy of the book is included in the ticket cost. The late-night event will take place in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N Halsted, on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 9pm. Samuel French Launches Natural Disaster Script Bank In Collaboration With The Educational Theatre Association

Samuel French, the world's leading theatrical publishing and licensing company, announced today that it is launching a Natural Disaster Script Bank for high schools nationwide in collaboration with the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).
