Bahia Ramos Named New Director of Arts at Wallace Foundation

Bahia Ramos has been selected as The Wallace Foundation's new Director of Arts, the foundation announced today. Ramos, who will oversee one of the foundation's key grantmaking areas, will join Wallace on September 6, 2018. She succeeds Daniel Windham, who is retiring at the end of September.
Palace Theater Kid Friendly Tour in August

In an unique collaboration a special kid friendly tour of the Palace Theater is being offered on Wednesday August 15 at 11:00 am. The hour-long tour adapted specifically for children ages 5 and older will include magic performed by "CJ the Sorcerer" aka Cyril May the Recycling Coordinator for the City of Waterbury, as well as an opportunity to see the behind the scenes magic at the majestic venue and a chance for a "walk on" across the historic stage.
2017-2018 Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapters of the Year Announced

The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) announces the 2017-2018 Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapter of the Year, presented by Simply Sheets Fundraising. The National Chapter of the Year Program is designed to motivate and reward chapters that perform service projects, encourage Chapter Officers to perform their duties properly, and increase awareness and interest in what other Tri-M chapters are doing.
Friends Of The Drexel Appoints Jeremy Henthorn As Theatre Director

Friends of the Drexel today announced that Jeremy Henthorn has been selected as theatre director of the Drexel Theatre. Currently executive director of the Columbus International Film and Animation Festival at the Columbus College of Art and Design and a resident of Bexley, Henthorn holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, ranked No. 1 on The Hollywood Reporter's list of Top 25 Film Schools for five years straight (2013-17). He will begin his new role with the Drexel on Monday, July 16, 2018.
Lee Greenwood To Celebrate July 4th with Hometown Performance at San Diego County Fair

Grammy-winning Country Music Artist Lee Greenwood will celebrate the 4th of July in his native Southern California, with a concert performance at 7:30 pm on the Paddock Stage at the San Diego County Fair. Greenwood, who is also set to Grand Marshall the fair's parade, called for unity among all Americas in a recent statement:

Following an extensive nationwide search, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Board of Trustees today namedJennifer Bielstein the new executive director of San Francisco's premier nonprofit theater organization. Bielstein succeeds Peter Pastreich who will depart from American Conservatory Theater at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Three School Theatre Programs Honored By National Association

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) recognizes schools whose theatre programs exemplify and promote high standards of quality in educational theatre. This year only three schools in the nation were honored: Arbor View High School in Las Vegas, Nevada; Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colorado; and Papillion La-Vista High School in Papillion, Nebraska.
Milwaukee Rep's PTI Ensemble Performs LOST GIRL

Milwaukee Repertory Theater presents the World Premiere production of Lost Girl by Kimberly Belflower performed by the 2017/18 Professional Training Institute (PTI) ensemble this July 19-22, 2018 in the Stiemke Studio. PTI is an advanced actor-training program for students in 8th-12th grade who may have an interest in pursuing a career as a professional theater artist. The 2017/18 PTI ensemble features sixteen students hailing from fourteen different high schools who received free training from some of the top theater professionals in the world, culminating in this capstone performance of Lost Girl where they will be employed as paid, professional actors.
Inspirational Theatre Educators Recognized by National Association

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) recognizes individuals who have inspired their students and dedicated themselves to providing quality theatre education with the Inspirational Theatre Educator Award. Veteran theatre educators and EdTA members Kelly Carlson, Philip Lee 'Peelee' Clark, and Carolyn Little will each receive this award at EdTA's National Conference.
Staten Island Museum Marks A New Era At 2018 Gala

The Staten Island Museum hold its annual fundraiser on May 18, celebrating a new era in leadership and honorees that epitomize commitment to community. The honorees are Ralph Branca, Staten Island Museum's immediate past Board Chairman and CEO of Victory State Bank; historian, educator, and professional genealogist Debbie-Ann Paige; and Jee Ra, principal of the Korean School of Staten Island and program director of the Korean Community Development Center. Gala co-chairs are Kashif Pervez and Oswaldo Pena. This year's annual gala is the first under the leadership of recently appointed President and CEO Janice Monger, who began her tenure in September 2017.

Under the direction of National Philharmonic Concertmaster Colin Sorgi, the National Philharmonic Chamber Players perform the works of Schubert and Mendelssohn on April 22 at 3pm at the John Kendall Recital Hall, Potter Violins in Takoma Park, MD. Entitled "Next Generation," the concert showcases gifted students from the Philharmonic's Summer String Institutes performing the Mendelssohn Octet in E-flat Major alongside members of the Philharmonic Chamber Players. The concert also features Schubert's String Quartet in C Major. Potter's intimate hall seats only 90, allowing concert goers to experience chamber music as it was originally intended, up close and personal. Marjory Stoneman Douglas Thespians Honored with Prestigious Award

Thespian Troupe 4879 of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. was honored recently at the closing ceremonies of the Florida Thespian Festival in Tampa, with the Spirit of Thespis Award from the International Thespian Society. Melody Herzfeld, the theatre teacher and troupe director, accepted the award. Troupe 4879 has 81 members, 40 of whom participated in the Florida event.
