Christopher Koelsch, the Sebastian Paul and Marybelle Musco President and CEO of LA Opera, has announced details for the company's 2026/27 season, which will launch on October 17, 2026.

Sarasota Opera will present THE MERRY WIDOW by Franz Lehár as part of its 2026 Winter Festival. The operetta will open on February 21 and run through March 27 following the festival’s opening production of LA BOHÈME.

The ever popular and hardy perennial of the operatic canon, composer Georges Bizet’s Carmen, was given a unique yet solid interpretation by the Wolf Trap Opera under the direction of John de los Santos. (Originally directed by Anne Bogart, according to the program). This opera is so well-known (and almost ubiquitous)---that I could feel the palpable excitement in the audience as the opera was about to begin ---even on a hot and humid August evening at the cavernous Filene Center at Wolf Trap.

For two days in March, Opera Saratoga will hold local auditions for the 2025 Summer Festival Season and beyond, in order to create a local roster of affiliated singers, actors and pianists.

Carmen is now playing at Theatre Basel. This is an opéra comique in four acts by Georges Bizet with text by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy after the novella by Prosper Mérimée.

The passionate work, which entered the canon and the hearts of the public due to its protagonist's transgression and the unforgettable Habanera aria, is set in a haute couture atelier with the signature of a specialist in the theme, director Jorge Takla, Ronaldo Zero as associate diretor and musical direction by Roberto Minczuk.

Sarasota Opera has announced the 2023-2024 Opera Season today in a press conference on the main stage of the Sarasota Opera House. It will include four exciting opera productions, with one company premiere, a revival of a Sarasota Opera favorite, and two works that have not been given in more than a decade. There will also be a return of a favorite concert with orchestra and the industry-leading Sarasota Youth Opera production. 

The Bat is now playing at Theater St. Gallen. Performances run through January 20, 2023.

MasterVoices has announced details of the chorus’ 81st season, celebrating the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. The season includes four mainstage productions at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Carmen, La traviata, The Shining, and Sondheim on Sondheim in addition to live performances of the holiday classic, Amahl and the Night Visitors and the Kansas City premiere of Listen, Wilhelmina!, an imaginative children's opera at the Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building. All Kauffman Center performances will be accompanied by the Kansas City Symphony.
