Tony nominee Norm Lewis has joined the cast of The Foundation for New American Musicals’ concert production of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Peter Stone’s Woman of the Year.

South Coast Repertory has announced the casts and creative teams for its renowned Pacific Playwrights Festival. The highly anticipated showcase of new works, part of the theatre's new-play development arm—The Lab@SCR—begins Friday, May 2 and runs through Sunday, May 4.

Perfection, thy name is Joseph. And Narrator. And Pharoah. And Jacob. And Potiphar. And director Glenn Casale’s explosive production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Broadway at Music Circus. This musical marvel is an early collaboration of super-duo Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who would go on to create such hits as Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. The original Broadway show opened in 1982 and was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Original Score. It was last seen at Broadway at Music Circus in 2010, so Sacramento is more than ready for this spectacular sung-through musical once again.

London’s smash theatrical concert “The Simon & Garfunkel Story,” a loving musical tribute to the famed American folk-rock duo, has just made its only Asian stop this year at The Theatre at Solaire.

“Sweeney Todd,” the dark, brooding, yet sharply comic story of love, revenge and meat pies by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, opens this weekend at Pasadena’s A Noise Within. Check out photos of the production.

A Noise Within puts their unique spin on Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street opening February 17, 2024 (with previews starting February 11th). ANW’s co-producing artistic director Julia Rodriguez-Elliott directs the cast of: Geoff Elliott, James Everts, Amber Liekhus, Joanna A. Jones, Jeremy Rabb, Cassandra Marie Murphy, Kasey Mahaffy, Josey Montana McCoy and Harrison White.  Cassandra, who plays the cutting role of Mrs. Lovett, graciously took time from juggling her rehearsals with her motherly duties to answer a few of my queries.

The Muny has announced that Ashley Blanchet, Ben Crawford, Claybourne Elder, Ann Harada, Kelvin Moon Loh, Eric Jordan Young, Holly Ann Butler, Tommy Bracco, Harrison White, Debby Lennon and Michael Hobin will star in the magical production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, June 22 - 30, 2023.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & McCOY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT opened the first show of their 2021-2022 season, the West Coast premiere of the madcap murder mystery, CLUE.

Based on the well-known board game distributed in North America by Parker Brothers (which was later folded into toy and game manufacturer Hasbro) that itself inspired a cult 1985 Paramount Pictures film of the same name written and directed by Jonathan Lynn, CLUE--the stage play--features the same infamous names and, yes, weapons and rooms synonymous with the classic whodunnit game. Writer Sandy Rustin, along with additional writers Hunter Foster and Eric Price, have revived the same colorful characters and personalities of the film and have transposed them into a madcap, 90-minute puzzle that's mostly silly and engagingly fun. The comedy's West Coast Premiere production continues at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts through October 17, 2021.

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment will west coast premiere playwright Sandy Rustin’s adaptation of Jonathan Lynn’s screenplay CLUE September 24, 2021. Prolific director Casey Hushion steers a cast of Jeff Skowron, Heather Ayers, Ted Barton, Mary Birdsong, Sarah Hollis, John Shartzer, Cassie Simone, Harrison White, Rachel McLaughlan, Michael Cavinder, and James Tolbert. Had the opportunity to learn some behind-the-scenes of CLUE and other productions Casey has worked on.

Ellie Brigida (Scoring and Music Producer) and Leigh Holmes Foster (Composer) of the celebrated Lez Hang Out podcast, in association with the Broadway Podcast Network, have announced a brand new scripted LGBTQ+ musical podcast The Flame the Musical. 

The two Richmond productions of David Yazbek's musicals made outstanding memories.
