BWW Review: A CHRISTMAS CAROL EXPERIENCE at Fairfield Center Stage
by Sean Fallon
- Dec 16, 2021
On Wednesday, December 15, I had the pleasure of seeing one of my absolute favorite annual shows, A CHRISTMAS CAROL EXPERIENCE, as put on by Fairfield Center Stage. This annual production is easily the show that I talk up the most frequently during the year, every year. While in the past, it has been at the Burr Mansion, and was virtually performed last year, this year, it is at a new venue, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which Fairfield Center Stage has also made perfectly fit this show! Fairfield Center Stage has successfully repeated the groundbreaking excellence that I experienced for the first time back on December 22 of 2018, and have subsequently enjoyed every year since then!

We're back open for the holidays with a true Christmas classic! You probably know the story - Ebenezer Scrooge is a miserable miser who hates the holidays, until a few ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve and show him his past, present and his potential future if he continues to 'Bah humbug' the world around him. This warm and wonderful adaptation by Pam Wilson and Mark Shipley has been a local favorite for many years and it's been polished up and revised by director Jeff Deards, Jr. especially for 2021!
BWW Review: RARE EARTH METTLE, Royal Court Theatre
by Cindy Marcolina
- Nov 30, 2021
Rare Earth Mettle doesn’t need any more publicity. Headlines started talking about Al Smith’s play before its previews were cold in the grave, and reviews have flocked in agreement of its generally disappointing outcome. An exploding controversy, a hasty statement from the top floors of the Royal Court, and even quicker name-change later, the production remains a cutting critique that unfortunately loses itself in its search for style and forceful sarcasm.
