Just a few days after it was announced that Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance was found in near-perfect conditions off the coast of Antarctica after it sank in 1915, a play about another tragic, marginally more famous shipwreck opens at the Park Theatre.

J2 Spotlight Musical Theater Company is opening the third production of its 2022 season, Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics) and Joseph Stein’s (book) celebrated musical The Baker’s Wife, based on the film La Femme de Boulanger by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono tonight, Thursday, March 10  at Theater Row (410 West 42nd Street). 

Broadway leading man and Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis played a brilliant concert at Carnegie Hall and Broadway World was there, in the person of a guest reporter named Andrew Poretz.

Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced the principal casting for the world premieres of Skyward by Alysa Pires and On Solid Ground by Siphesihle November, the Canadian premiere of After the Rain by Christopher Wheeldon and Kenneth MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations. Principal Dancer Jillian Vanstone retires after 22 years with the National Ballet and will appear in After the Rain, acquired in her honour, and Elite Syncopations. The programme is onstage March 9 – March 13, 2022 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. 

According to an ABS-CBN article, Lea Salonga and Michael Bublé are set to judge a virtual singing competition. The contest will be available for streaming through the Filipino service Kumu. The program, Sing for the Stars, hopes to collect talents across the internet and form a community of musicians and artists. The show will be livestreamed, and will include real-time interactions with featured audience members from all over the world.

Waterwell has announced casting for the U.S. premiere of Stefano Massini's 7 Minutes, produced in association with Working Theater. The cast of 11 is composed entirely of women and gender non-conforming BIPOC+ actors.

Propeller Dance’s Frame of Mind features three videos, Propeller Dance’s Frame of Mind, and two works from guest artists: You&Us and P&G. Each video explores mental health through dance. Two time Broadway World Award winner Mark William celebrated Valentine’s Day at Chelsea Table + Stage - New York's newest hotspot, with his new show Love Sings! The evening was full of romantic and show stopping love songs from Broadway, Pop, Hollywood, and The Great American Songbook. 

Next up in First Stage’s 2021/22 season will be THE  DANCING GRANNY, a play by Mansa Ra adapted from the children’s book by beloved author/illustrator Ashley Bryan. The production is part of First Stage’s First Steps Series which introduces younger audiences to live theater.

In the week that the Royal Shakespeare Company’s new season opens in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Company today released further details of its 2022 activity including three new Shakespeare productions that speak directly to our world today, the launch of TikTok Tickets, plus details of how people can participate in 37 Plays: a nationwide search to write the stories of today co-created in partnership with the RSC’s network of 12 regional theatre partners, over 200 Associate Schools and freelance artists who together form the Royal Shakespeare Community.

Irvine High School is set to present Chicago: Teen Edition this March from the 3rd until the 5th. This scaled-down, 90-minute production takes place in Illinois in the late 1920s. Jazz star Velma Kelly is at the peak of her game as the drama unfolds. Roxie Hart, a married woman, has slipped into an illicit affair at home with her boyfriend, Fred Casely. Amos realizes his wife lies to cover up her affair and turns against her.
