Pan Asian Repertory Theatre Announces Expanded Training Programs

PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE will expand training opportunities in its 37th Milestone Season, and announces that its fall line-up will include an exciting new opportunity to explore Hula Basics for 8 Thursdays from Oct 3 - Dec 6, 2013 with instructor by Marina Celander. Enhanced programming complements Pan Asian's popular Acting/Writing Lab led by Obie Award- winning artist, Ernest Abuba, which will be offered for 10 Wednesdays from Oct 9 - Dec 12, 2013. All classes are held at 520 Spaces (520 8th Ave in the Fashion District).

Austin Pendleton Directs LUFT GANGSTER at Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, Now thru 8/24

The story of U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and prisoner of war Sgt. Louis Fowler is told in the world premiere of Lowell Byers' gripping and visceral drama Luft Gangster. Directed by Austin Pendleton, Luft Gangster will be performed from today, August 13th - August 24th at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, located at 312 West 36th Street, on the first floor. Members of the press are invited as of the August 15th performance.

OTC to Present DRACULA: BLOODLINES at Gene Frankel Theatre, Begin. 8/22

The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company (OTC), under the artistic direction of Thomas R. Gordon, continues its 2nd season ("a season focused on dreams") with the world premiere new play DRACULA: BLOODLINES, penned by Mr. Gordon, with performances beginning August 22nd prior to an official press opening of August 25th at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street) in Manhattan.

August Strindberg Repertory Theatre to Present MR. BENGT'S WIFE, 9/6-29

August Strindberg Repertory Theatre (www.strindberg.org), which was formed in 2012 to illuminate Strindberg's plays for today's American audiences, will present the English language premiere of Strindberg's 'Mr. Bengt's Wife' (1882), directed by Craig Baldwin (Associate Artistic Director of Red Bull Theater) September 6 to 29, 2013 at the Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, where August Strindberg Rep is the resident company. 'Mr. Bengt's Wife' has been characterized as Strindberg's answer to Ibsen's 'The Doll's House.' It utilizes realism, expressionism, melodrama and dreamscape to tell the story of the rebellious Margit, whose quest to become an independent New Woman catapults her from a convent to a castle, where her husband and two lovers vie for her attention.

Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes Opens on July 25 at the Macha Theatre in West Hollywood

Playwright/Director Brad T Gottfred, has announced that his most recent work (and only second play for the theatre stage)... Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes will have its West Coast premiere at West Hollywood's Macha Theatre July 25 through September 25, 2013. The premiere is presented by Bleeping Crazy Entertainment in association with Macha Theatre/Films and follows a brief workshop production in Los Angeles and a world premiere in Chicago... both executed during 2011.

The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala 'One Acts for a Cause' is set for tonight, June 16 at 7:30pm at the Alice Griffin Jewelbox Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center. The evening will raise funds for the non-profit Safe Horizon and showcase three new one-act plays by acclaimed playwrights Neil LaBute, John Patrick Shanley and Winter Miller (Neil LaBute and Winter Miller's pieces will be world premieres).

Nylon Fusion Theatre to Debut MARINA and MATA HARI at Planet Connections, 6/15

Nylon Fusion Theatre Company presents two world-premiere one-act works by Don Nigro Marina and Mata Hari, at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, about two women who bravely faced personal battles as they were caught up in the turmoil of the two world wars. Directed by Ivette Dumeng, and starring Tatyana Kot in the title roles, with Curtis James Nielsen, Marina and Mata Hari will be performed together at the Robert Moss Theatre at 440 Lafayette Street beginning tomorrow, June 15th.

Lee Blessing Returns for id Theater's 13th Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, Now thru 6/22

id Theater returns to McCall, Idaho for the 13th Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, tonight, June 10- 22, sponsored by the Alpine Playhouse. Playwrights, actors and directors from across the country will travel to McCall and, working with local artists and students, develop eleven new plays that will be presented to the public free of charge. Since 2001, the Conference has developed more than 100 new plays by some of the most exciting voices in American Theater.
