The final CULTURE & COCKTAILS brings back two longtime favorites- Rob Russell and Avery Sommers- and frequent musical performers along with several surprise guests.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report the passing of actor Larry Ross, who died at the age of 88 in Philadelphia. Ross died at home on February 5, 2025. Mr. Ross enjoyed a career as an actor, dancer, singer and teacher of the performing arts.

30 years ago, on April 18, 1994, Disney's Beauty and the Beast opened on Broadway at the Palace Theatre. The musical would go on to run for 46 previews and 5462 regular performances, making it the 10th longest-runing Broadway show of all time.

Actors Theatre of Indiana has announced their next production – Violet. A moving musical featuring show-stopping anthems, ranging from American-roots to folk to gospel.

Actors Theatre of Indiana has announced casting for the first show in their 2022-2023 season – NUNSENSE: A musical. 

The recent passing of the talented, versatile, dynamic Calvin Remsberg has left a very wide and deep loss to all who have known and loved him. As well as to those who have worked and studied with him. Calvin’s accomplishments are not only many but varied and fascinating. His humor and creative insights were also a major element in all he did. He was a true friend to all and fiercely loyal to the professional ethics he learned from his amazing career.

International City Theatre has been honored with three wins and 20 additional nominations for four different productions by longtime theater reviewer Rob Stevens, who has announced his 35th annual “Robby Awards for Excellence in Southern California Theatre.”

Though Barbra Streisand remains Broadway's most beloved Fanny, plenty of legends have taken on the role over the last six decades.

Today we're celebrating the 20th anniversary of Mel Brooks' The Producers, which opened to rave reviews at the St. James Theatre on this day in 2001.

We also dropped by a rehearsal for Cameron Mackintosh's new production of the landmark musical Les Misérables, directed by John Caird. It starred Alexander Gemignani, Aaron Lazar, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gary Beach and Norm Lewis. Mackintosh told Ridge, 'I'm delighted to have the opportunity. The only thing I never expected or dreamt of was getting such a wonderful cast as this. Everybody we ever dreamt of wanted to be in it. We found some marvelously talented people that we didn't know, and I think it's one of the strongest casts of Les Miz that's ever been anywhere.'

BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that Broadway veteran Merwin Foard recently passed away at 59 years old. Born September 16, 1960 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Foard was last seen on Broadway in Aladdin as a standby for Jafar/Sultan.

Disney has officially been making magic on Broadway for 25 years! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Disney on Broadway is partnering with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to put on a special benefit to celebrate the momentous occasion. We're getting in on the celebration by looking back at Disney's show-stopping productions, from classics like Beauty and the Beast and Newsies to current favorites like Aladdin and Frozen. Check it all out!

The tale as old as time will be told again soon! A source has confirmed that Disney Theatrical Productions will revive Beauty and the Beast internationally in several years. The production will  be headed by the original creative team, but will feature new designs and dance arrangements.
