Review: NAC’s Next to Normal – A Heartful Approach, A Misplaced Medium

From 7 to 11 May of 2025, the theatre organization New Art Collective (NAC) hosted their latest production of the 2008 American Rock Musical Next to Normal (commonly abbreviated as N2N). The show took place at the black box theatre, Teater Wahyu Sihombing, and was performed a total of eight times.

Originally premiering on Broadway in 2009, Next to Normal was nominated for 11 Tony Awards of which it won three, including for Best Original Score. It was also awarded the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, an award that only ten musicals have received in the 105-year history of The Pulitzer Prizes.

Previously announced, this production will star Queenie van de Zandt in the leading role of Diana Goodman, the matriarch of a modern-day family, traumatised by loss and the unpredictable affects sparked by her bipolar diagnosis.

Full Cast Announced for NEXT TO NORMAL Presented by James Terry Collective

After an extensive audition process of over 250 performers, James Terry Collective has announced the full cast of Next to Normal. Previously announced, this electric production will star Queenie van de Zandt in the leading role of Diana Goodman. Returning to the stage is Tyran Parke as Dan Goodman.
