A new Broadway season has arrived at last, full of exciting new shows and revivals of beloved classics. While many of them are original concepts or based on plays, 10 are already films that you can watch from home. Today, the Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciarán O’Reilly, Producing Director) announced two productions for their Spring 2022 season. The New York Premiere of Belfast Girls by Jaki McCarrick (The Naturalists) and directed by Nicola Murphy (A Girl Is A Half-formed Thing) will run May 11-June 26, 2022 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, with an opening night set for May 19, 2022. Two by Synge, by John Millington Synge and directed by Charlotte Moore (The Streets of New York), will run April 13-May 22, 2022 on the W. Scott McLucas Studio Stage, with an opening night set for April 24, 2022.
Irish Repertory Theatre announced today productions for their upcoming fall season, which will mark their return to in-person programming following the Covid-19 shutdown in March 2020.
Uncle Vanya was filmed on stage under strict covid protocols at the Harold Pinter Theatre in the middle of 2020. The new film version of the production had a cinematic release ahead of being broadcast on BBC Four, making it the first UK stage production closed by the Coronavirus pandemic to have been filmed and produced for the screen.
Irish Repertory Theatre announced today three Performance on Screen digital productions for their Summer 2021 season. Ghosting, by Anne O’Riordan and Jamie Beamish and directed for streaming by Jamie Beamish, will premiere on Tuesday June 22, 2021. The production, starring Anne O’Riordan, will run through Sunday July 4, 2021.
Irish Repertory Theatre announced today that they will host virtual screenings of the New York film premiere of The Man Who Wanted to Fly. Directed by Frank Shouldice, The Man Who Wanted to Fly will be screened online on Tuesday May 25 at 7pm ET and Wednesday May 26 at 2pm & 7pm ET.
This special partnership launches with the streaming of the Irish Repertory Theatre company’s 2020 Performances on Screen series, which includes Conor McPherson’s The Weir, Eugene O’Neill’s classic A Touch of the Poet, and the legendary Bill Irwin in On Beckett / In Screen and much more.

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced that beginning Monday March 8, 2021 at 12pm ET, all nine 2020 Performance on Screen digital productions will be available to rent from Broadway on Demand through December 31, 2021.
Irish Repertory Theatre announced today that their next Performance on Screen digital production is The Aran Islands by J.M. Synge and adapted and directed by Joe O’Byrne. Starring Brendan Conroy, the virtual production of The Aran Islands will premiere on Tuesday March 16, 2021 at 7pm ET and run through Sunday March 28, 2021.
