CBS and The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards announced that a bevy of stage and screen stars that will appear on 'The Tony Awards® Present: Broadway's Back!' live from The Winter Garden Theatre in New York City, Sunday, Sept. 26 on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

Tina - The Tina Turner Musical is rollin' back to Broadway! Rehearsals are underway for the Tony-nominated hit, which is led by Adrienne Warren in the title role, with Daniel J. Watts as Ike, Dawnn Lewis as Zelma, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe as Tina Turner at some performances, Tony Award nominee Myra Lucretia Taylor as Gran Georgeanna and Jessica Rush as Rhonda.

After two and a half years without Broadway's biggest night, the Tony Awards are back. This year's presentation will honor the outstanding shows, performances and artistry of the 2019-2020 Broadway season, which was brought to a halt by the COVID-19 pandemic. Just last night, Atlantic Theater Company celebrated opening night of the World Premiere play The Last of the Love Letters. The Last of the Love Letters is written by and features Ngozi Anyanwu and is directed by Patricia McGregor. The Last of the Love Letters plays a limited engagement through Sunday, September 26th Off-Broadway at the Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street).

Need some help predicting the winners? I have attempted to predict about half of these categories (mainly the musical theatre categories since I was not able to see the majority of the plays in the 2019-2020 season), and have provided some rationale for each category. An original Broadway cast member, Nkeki Obi-Melekwe played Tina in the West End production and plays Tina at certain performances in the Broadway production as the Tina alternate.

Detroit '67, the final production in the Signature Features 2021 Season is now available for streaming through Thursday, September 16 on Marquee TV.

Earlier this week, the New York Theatre community gathered for a private screening of the upcoming film RESPECT, which is out in theatres starting today, August 13. Star of the film, Jennifer Hudson, director Liesl Tommy and more were on hand for the big night.

Little Island, New York City's new public park in Hudson River Park by W. 13th Street, begins performances for the 2021 Storytelling Festival tomorrow, Wednesday, July 21. The multidisciplinary festival is curated by Little Island Artists-in-Residence PigPen Theatre Co. and will run through Sunday, July 25.

Signature Theatre has announced the full cast and dates for Detroit ‘67, the final production in the Signature Features 2021 Season. Written by MacArthur Genius Grant Fellow Dominique Morisseau and directed by Candis C. Jones, Detroit ‘67 depicts abrupt changes to the lives of the Poindexter siblings during the 1967 Detroit uprising.
